Do I seem sad? There's been... a lot going on, X. But it's good to talk with you again. [It's been - difficult, being unable to access X. Hajime has a pull like gravity, but the program has been his friend and confidant for what feels like forever.

He doesn't want to answer the question about mistakes. He knows that X doesn't have the capacity to feel disappointed in him, but Rui still feels shamed.]

[ X doesn't understand and yet she can't see the fault in her programmed logic. Rui's always been talking to her the past time, hasn't he? The only one logged in as Rui Ninomiya is Rui Ninomiya, of course. Still, in this moment that's a face she knows, that's familiar data she can easily evaluate. Unlike the expressions he's been making the past days, this is like always. It's so much easier to process. Maybe the only equivalent to being 'better' X can quite grasp. ]

Your voice is more silent and your eyes are more narrow... Until lately, that has been registered as sadness. Your face has been changing a lot lately, though. Do I need to reassess?

[This time, he smiles at her. It's a nostalgic sort of thing. On some level, Rui knows that he doesn't take care of himself very well; it's why he programmed X to do it for him. But it's still nice.]

You don't need to reassess. I know you're doing the best you can. Humans make more mistakes than the things that humans create, after all.

Has the thing logged in as Rui Ninomiya been treating you well? [He's not smearing her screen or making her glitch out, is he? X requires special maintenance, something which Rui puts more time into than his own self-maintenance, often.]

[ 'The thing'? X's memory of ever questioning Berg Katze's Rui impression have been wiped from her hard-drive in one single glitch, but she can draw the connection again. It would never be enough to make her go against user 'Rui Ninomiya', but it's at least sufficient to make her go along with what this Rui (is there more than one Rui?) is saying. ]

The user 'Rui Ninomiya' of the past days has made... unusual choices, but he has not harmed my system. [ As far as she remembers. ] I don't know if that is 'well', but there is no reason to worry about me.

Good. That's good. Then again, you're always quite dependable.

[Aside from X being his friend, she's also really one of the accomplishments he's most proud of. Programming her wasn't easy, you know.]

The current user 'Rui Ninomiya'... Well, I suppose you could say it's a high-class case of identity theft. It can't be trusted, X. I can't do anything about it right now, but I will. I'll do as much as I can. [Even if that isn't very much at all. Hajime will help. Gatchaman will help. He was wrong, but that doesn't mean he won't try to right it.]

I'm written to always be loyal to My Lord Rui. I don't know about more than one.
But... If this is the case, I believe the real Rui will surely regain control of his rightful account.

[ Changing program ownership is not acceptable. There is only one person who fully comprehends this system and that makes it only natural for him to return to control. ]

[Rui can't imagine what life would be like without X. Rui, jelly beans do not constitute dinner. You fell asleep on the couch, Rui. Your glasses are on the coffee table. You'll accomplish your goals, My Lord Rui. He's never written anything as good as X, and, he thinks, he likely never will.]

I should have created a better fail-safe for this type of situation... I didn't foresee it. [He should have predicted it, with Katse floating around, but...] But I am your rightful manager, and I'll take that position back. Just wait a little longer, all right? [He's already thinking of what restorations he might need to do on her system.]

I'll wait however long it takes.

[ A computer can't be impatient after all. Still, it's clear now, her system is -if not faulty- at least in need of improvement. She wants to improve. ]

Up until now a simple, short check of physical appearance and the log-in data were enough to be acknowledged as the administrator. However, I am capable of behavior analysis. If you enabled this to be an active identity check, a second log-in validation could be requested in case of inaccuracies.

Normally, those things were all that would be required for me to be acknowledged as administrator. Circumstances have changed, though. Since the impostor currently has administrative capabilities, it'd be difficult to perform such a radical change in your programming... But it'd be helpful, too. After all, I don't doubt that it's parading around with my face in a really unseemly way.

Behavioral analysis and vocal analysis seem to be the way to go. [Berg Katze impression of Rui is a little bit off, after all.] Plus... maybe... a short series of tests on the user's working knowledge of your facilities. [After all, it's not like X has come with a manual (and it's not like Katze would have read it anyway). Rui would be the only person to have such a familiarity with X.]

I'd like for that to be enabled as soon as possible. They're very practical changes.

As soon as this situation is resolved [ aka as soon as she has any clue who the real Rui even is ] the same mistake surely won't happen again.

Everyone who requires my assistance is supposed to make an own GALAX account. Everything will run much more smoothly again once identity rights are clear.

I made one, you know. A GALAX account. Isn't it funny? Me, registering as a new user. I never thought I'd... [There's some laughter, but it's wry.] I mean, it's nice to see how it runs from an outsider's standpoint, but it's...

Crazy. [This whole thing is crazy. Berg Katze is crazy. Hajime Ichinose is crazy, but that's not really a bad thing, at this point.]

[ She's silent for a moment. Rui Ninomiya is logged in but another Rui is out there, any of those people she talks to everyday. It's at least 'reassuring' that she knows she uses all of her available resources to help each user. Still, of course she doesn't talk to them like this. ]

How does it feel to use the app you created yourself? Is it helpful?

It's nice. It's a good experience. People chat with each other, have fun with each other, lend each other a hand. Sometimes you see someone who feels sad, and others go to talk with them. Schoolchildren get help with homework, people find others to help them with labor. It's good, X.

Still, not everyone is as kind as I'd hoped. [Hajime's taught him something important.] Information about me is cycling around, and the commentary hasn't always been pleasant. Sometimes, people need to leave that sort of communication for a little while, I guess. I want people to be able to rely on GALAX, but... they need to rely on each other in other ways, too. I never want GALAX to hurt anyone. I don't know if you know this, X, but humans hurt each other often, every day, just by saying things. I was hoping that GALAX would minimize that. I wonder if that can still happen.

I am aware of that information. Not everything is on servers I can access without hacking, but even so, do you wish for me to delete it?

Human minds are changeable, more so than I could comprehend. Surely making them get along is a process of some length. With GALAX you gave them a platform to try and reach out for each other. Their voices sound happy when they are matched up with someone to help. Maybe that means they're learning.

I... [Remember what Hajime said.] I'll just turn it off, X. If it gets to me, I only have to walk away from it. That's the way the Internet works, right? [The reality check hasn't been an easy one.]

I want them to learn. But I don't know if everybody will. I have doubts, X. I never doubted before that we could all do this together. But everybody's hearts... [It's out of control.] I don't want this to be bloody.

Researches say humans are adaptable to their group. When the majority changes, the rest will most often try and fit into the dominant system.

I think it's good that you're thinking though. Constant re-processing advances an idea. Remember how many times you rewrote my script to get it to this point? Maybe your ideal is like that.

[ Or so in theory. It's good to hear Rui speak of a bloodless revolution again, even in context of doubt. The Katze Rui with his talk of dying the world in red had been.. too far out of pattern. ]

I did re-script you an awful lot, didn't I? I wanted to make you as amazing as I could. And I want... I want the world to be amazing, too. I want everybody to think it's amazing. That's what I was thinking.

Sometimes, an update takes a while, doesn't it? Not everything runs as smoothly as you do. I think that you're right, X. My ideal... It's still important to me. I need to amend the process and not the objective.
