I never expected or asked for happy endings. Didn't request a special mage friend. What I am asking is that this train doesn't wreck before I do whatever needs to be done.

Whatever happens after that — well. Not much to do with me, is it? Let the world end however it will. Let it run down on its shitty little springs. I'll be sure to shed a tear if I'm not already dead.

Honestly Petra, expecting happy endings might be naive, but not even asking for them is downright silly.

Hope's not for you, I understand, but the least you can do is permit yourself a little greed.

It'd be like indulging yourself, but with imaginary chocolate. There are other, real things I can be greedy for.

Or like taking a swing at someone who you know is going to beat you. Futile, but profoundly satisfying. Besides, it matters that people know that you want things. Want is powerful.
