[ barf ] I know Aisaka-san probably wouldn't want to see me since she's always so angry and violent... but I'm sure that's only because she doesn't really have many friends, so she's just not used to acting like a decent human being around people~!

[ she laughs lightly. ]

She just needs a lot of help, that's all. Of course Ami-chan will try and offer her own, but everyone's always telling Ami-chan that she tries too hard to help others all the time, so Ami-chan isn't sure she'll be able to do much good... Maybe Aisaka-san needs a little more!

[ delicately, she places a finger to her chin in thought. ]

[ she sighs... but it's not nearly as sad as it could be. her head lowers with the weight of his hand, but she only lets it dip for a moment.

then she shifts her head away, the contact too tempting for someone as weak as her. ]

[ He lowers his hand to his side when she moves away like that, paying close attention to her body language thereafter. He can tell now, that this is the real Ami Kawashima moving before him, can hear it in the way she talks. He doesn't quite know what to say to her now, never truly understands the weight of her words, even more so when she trails off into a whisper like she often tends to do. ]

[ Like now. ]

[ how easy it would all just be, really, to lay it all out for him in words, in a gesture. she could spell it out, and he wouldn't have the comfort of ignorance to fall back on, and she would heave a heavy sigh and release that burden on her shoulders, and that would be that.

but she knows that as easy as it will be for her, it would only be that much harder for him. and it's not fair to put him in such a position. (not that she ever truly let herself fancy the idea of him being torn over a choice; no, his answer would be obvious. but he's too nice to not get torn up about it, and a guy like ryuuji... he deserves better than that.)

so she laughs again, because oddly enough it comes easiest in times like these. ]

[ He is far too familiar with that laugh of hers to know that it's anything but genuine. Instead it's stuck somewhere between heartfelt and pitiful, the perfect shield against anyone that doesn’t know her well enough—but he does, perhaps more than the rest. Yet even that only allows him to see so much, and is the reason why he gets so confused whenever he can’t figure out why Ami begins to act so ambiguous and detached around him, sometimes abruptly. One minute, she is teasing him, giving him advice the next, and then all of a sudden her lip will twitch to form a frown as she claims frustration over anything pertaining to him.

He doesn't understand, probably never will, but there is one thing Ryuuji can see plain as day: she is forcing a smile. And he wants to make it better, feeling a responsibility to all those dear to him. ]

What are you talking about? I'm fine. It's a good thing you didn't have to be by yourself for very long, though. Maybe no one wanted to talk to me.
