You can't expect me to be all right with the idea of my precious daughter trapped in another world without anyone she knows! No decent parent would think that was okay!

[Death Scythe do you really think you're a decent parent.]

Excuse me, ma'am, if I may interrupt: he didn't train me at all, I received training from the Academy and practiced for a long time. I'm perfectly capable of handling myself, so I'm going to say it's the former in this case and he's aware that he's a terrible father.

[Which is technically true, Spirit is aware that he did a shitty job with the parenting thing.]

[Have a look of utmost disdain.]

Wow. I feel sorry for you, kid. The fact that you had to deal with... that and haven't screwed up your training is rather impressive, really.
soundmind: (Smile ► This time I'll disappear)

Thank you. It's all thanks to my mother, really, I had her example to follow...and I guess Papa's influence was helpful too...in that I wanted to be better than him in every way. [Which was a task to her at the start of her little journey, he may look like a sobbing mess but he's actually quite the effective Weapon.]

[Have a head pat.]

See, this is why guys should never be left in charge of training.
soundmind: (Unsure ► Oh ah...okay...um.)

Exactly! [LOL MEN] I'm sorry for his behavior as a whole, too. I'm not going to say he's not usually like this, because he is, but it's been such a long time since I've seen him around these parts I'm not used to having to deal with him.

[Toph just grins and cracks her knuckles.]

Y'know, I think what he needs is a taste of some real discipline, and I know exactly how to do it.

[She takes a fighting stance and jerks a hand upward, as a rather large rock carves its way out of the ground.]
soundmind: (someone talking shit?)

Ah--[Judging by the look of surprise, this is not something Maka's seen before.] What sort of technique is that?

[...But then it sinks in that the woman said discipline.]

W-wait a second, he doesn't know how to fight at all. His duty has always been to be someone else's weapon.

It's called Earth Bending. Lots of people back home can do it. I just happen to be the best.

[Wait a second. Once what Maka says registers, the stance - and the rock - falls as Toph just gets an incredulous look on her face.]

This guy managed to survive long enough to have a kid, and doesn't even know how to fight!? Kid, I envy your mom. If she's strong enough to keep his scrawny butt from getting kicked, while having the patience to put up with him... she's stronger willed than I am.

My mom really is an amazing person. [And she will say that proudly, too.] She's the only reason he's such a renowned Death Scythe in the first place.

[Ahem.]

In my world, some people can turn into weapons and other people wield them. Like you're the best Earthbender, my mom is the greatest Scythe Meister.
