I am no-one’s play toy and I've made it clear that I’m done with people telling me what to do.

[For a moment she pauses, looking contemplative] Though... it would be nice to get out and actually do something. I’m getting bored.

[She smiles.] If you truly think you can find me a good place, then I’ll trust your judgment. Maybe it won’t be that bad.

I made my stance clear. I won't tolerate being treated like a play toy. But, if I can actually get out to do something, then joining one of these places might not be so bad. [It means she gets to do something, which is better than just sitting around waiting.]

Or I could go with something more intermediate. I'll decide on the side more firmly when I know more certainly what she has in mind. If it's a place I could do some good in, then I'll accept it. If it's not, then I won't tolerate it.

Having said that, he's trying to send me off to places that force you to do the deed. Like this place with the collars that choke you if you don't engage.

Questionable does describe that kind of place well. I hope my writer never gets the idea to go somewhere like that.

You make a good point. We're there to fight the darkness, to at least try to make things safer. If I could do that in one of these games, then I wouldn't protest going.

So maybe you can talk your mun into going somewhere where you feel you can help. I know there are places like that out there, my mun's sent some of the others here in headspace.

I thought getting out and doing something was part of the League's job description. Just what exactly are your standards for boredom?

Getting out and doing things is supposed to be what the League's there for. My mun has been less than confident with me though, which means I've been left for dust to settle on. Getting to a point where I'm collecting dust reaches beyond my standards for boredom.

It's a common occurrence when people like us are concerned. Tragically so, even. I don't know what's intimidating my kid; between my devilish good looks and her own inability to stop second-guessing herself, we're a match made in heaven.

I think I can understand why they're so intimidated. It's common for people to be uncertain when it comes to new and unfamiliar things. With time the intimidation will hopefully fade.
