All right, all right. I'd tell you to be patient, but I'm not exactly the type of guy who should be arguing for patience, y'know? Still, I'm not sure how I feel that when you're complaining about having too much of a goody two-shoes there, that you have to come running to me.

I mean, come on! I can't be your answer to that, can I?

But still, a place that's so desperate that it's almost indiscriminate has gotta be interesting somehow.

[He pauses to grin.]

What, you expected me to say no? To fight tooth and nail? That's not my style. If they want me, let 'em have me. Let them decide if it's a mistake or not.

And I know a Jade, but not a Jude. He's... not exactly young, though. [On the other hand, he isn't nearly as old as he tries to act sometime.]

Oh, yeah? So tell me what this Jade is like.

He's a little hard to explain...

He's a colonel and a close friend of one of the emperors where I live. He could actually be a higher rank, but he doesn't want to take on any more responsibility. He complains about how he's old, but really, that's just a way for him to get everyone else to do work for him. [Guy sighs as he considers just how many times Jade has bluntly told him to explain something.]

He tends to be flippant about everything, but he's really smart and a good ally, once you... get used to him. [He shrugs and rubs at the side of his neck. It's not the most glowing description, but at least it's honest.]

Aside from a minor name similarity, they're nothing alike. Jude is a goody two-shoes who always has to do the right thing no matter what. Strange thing is, he always seems to work it out, too. It's annoying.

I have a friend like that. I wouldn't say I find it annoying when he does it, though. [What's so wrong about doing the right thing?]

Maybe he's just got a better manner about him.

[But really, Alvin. Really.]

Actually, he didn't used to. For a long time, he was pretty self-centered and most people found him obnoxious. But... a lot of things have happened, and he's changed for the better.

[Guy will never stop being proud of Luke, though he also has no pretenses about how he once behaved. It's something he can hardly blame him for, though, considering the circumstances under which Luke was... well, created.]

Jude just couldn't make his mind up. Or think for himself. It was annoying. But he was still too-good-for-words, so I can't say they have anything in common.
