There is a distinct lack of focus she carries. It's— whelming, to say the least.

[ the lack of focus isn't what bothers her about this; she's lived the past two centuries living one day to the next, unsure of what the future held. she's unable to put a name to what is making her uneasy yet, mainly because she doesn't want to give the matter too much thought. ]

There's time for her to figure things out. [ they both know something about that. ]

[ He pockets his hands, glancing elsewhere. Perhaps far away, perhaps long ago. ]

[ that earns half a smile, perhaps because he's looking elsewhere, but it's only partially genuine and she's sure he'll be able to tell the difference. it doesn't matter; he's already aware of her wariness about their situation. ]

No, but it's amusing to see what they think might shock us.

They appear to be trifling with the wrong monsters.

[ there are times where it's difficult to be around him or even look at him. days where she longs for her daughter by her side again and has to will herself not to start searching for her; days where centuries of repressed fear and rage come to a head and she wants to rip out his throat. but she can see that he's making the effort not to cross any of those lines between them; that if they're ever to be erased, it'd going to be on her terms. she's not ready to grant him forgiveness ( she may never be able to truly do that, not fully ), but that he's making the effort to earn it and her respect means something. ]

We can show them a thing or two. Give them an idea of what they'll be dealing with.
