[He blinks, takes a moment to place the figure place the voice as a man he'd seen before, a man he'd known about a man from schooldays a man they'd been told to keep an eye on that man.]

I'm not. Anymore. [He can't quite put the words together and doesn't want to hear them. That he was an Auror, but hasn't been since... Since how long? However much time passed in the hospital. However much that was.]

[It helps. It does. The sound of the name ties a few more strands together, and the scene almost begins to make sense. There are questions (how and why and when is the man here and where is here and), but Savage forces himself away from them. No use making it worse. No use inviting trouble.]

Some pieces heal. [If he takes his time, the words come a little clearer, and he can almost keep them in line.] Bigger pieces. Make it work.

I knew you would recall a name as long as mine. [It's a train of a name. How can anyone forget it?] All pieces will heal in time. You must believe that. The damage Voldemort and his Death Eaters wrought is temporary. The world will be stronger for it. Even the hardest and cruelest of lessons can be informative.

[He doesn't know. Whether to trust this man (what had Scrimgeour told them? doesn't remain, and maybe it was never true, half of what they told you was suspect anyway), though he wants to. Wants somebody to trust, and this man's words— Dumbledore's words speak of safety.]

It is over? [It's almost more of a statement than a question, though Savage hasn't heard been told whether the war ended or not. If it's true, if it's over... Well. Maybe there's something, after all. For someone.]
