Speaking of which, how did I get volunteered to babysit the new arrivals once the game is up and running? I get that the twins probably aren't the best people for the job (in fact they'd probably start an unintentional fight) but there has got to be someone besides a Jumphawk pilot that can keep an eye on them. What am I supposed to do with a bunch of Jaeger pilots that drink to forget that they have suddenly lost their Drift partners?

This is a fine mess you and the other muns have cooked up. You know that, right?

[Ah. Speak of the visitors and one of them shall appear. Kimber quirks a faint smile at him. What was his name again? Andrew? Arnold? Anthony?]

That's a good outlook to have on the situation, I guess. At least you will have a roof over your head until they decide what to do about you and your Jaeger.

And they will know how to handle Jaegers. Imagine arriving in a completely alien world.

I don't know what it will be like, Drifting without Quorra, but I can't lose Shining City. She's all I have left.

[He's less worried about the Drift than he is about losing his Jaeger, to be honest. It's one of the few slated to actually arrive with one of its pilots.]

Unfortunately I am in no position to make promises about the fate of your Jaeger. She will be one of if not the first to appear from the altered Breach, and will probably be swarmed by the scientists for a while. All I can promise is that I will get her back to the Shatterdome in one piece.

Not in general, no, but these kids have a particular set of circumstances to face that most will never have to face in their life. More than the average pilot, anyway.

[A pause.]

You're one of Striker's pilots, right? Some of the members of my squadron came from Sydney originally.

Well, let's just say I'm not an average pilot.

[A slight smile.]

[And that's a name that's probably went down in PPDC history. One of the only Jaeger pilots to pilot all marks of Jaeger. Mark I through to V.]

If you tell me that you have been kidnapped by a hole in the Time Space Continuum that has altered the Breach in a parallel universe too I will buy you an entire pallet of whatever alcohol you want. Maybe three.

[There is a smile there and a teasing lilt to her voice, but her body language says that she is actually being serious about this.]

[She definitely knows the name, mostly because of the aforementioned squadron members from Sydney. They are proud of their nation' Jaeger pilots even after being relocated.]

I have seen some of the plans that my mun has come up with for the game and run by the players. Nothing as serious as a Category V so far, but the reality for my home universe is about to get boned. We already have one pilot wash up from another timeline. We'll be getting our first alien Jaeger as soon as the game opens with potentially more to come, along with higher category Kaijus that make our category IIs look like puppies.

[If ever a character wanted to punch their player...]

I'll keep that in mind the next time someone gets too rowdy at one of the luaus our Marshal throws every couple of months to boost morale. Might be a more effective deterrent than threatening to hogtie them and drag them down the shoreline.

I will mention that my mun's pretty interested in this game... even if I'm not too happy about the idea of going into the past.

My mun hopes to have the game pretty much ready to open by the weekend. Just a warning that the trip is a one-way sort of thing. The alteration to the Breach was only discovered about a month ago, so we have no idea how to send anyone back to where and when they come from yet.

[She laughs a little at that.]

The Hawaiian Shatterdome has a more relaxed atmosphere than some of the others. Trust me, there are always shenanigans to be found during downtime.

I don't think he's bothered too much about one-way trips. Looks like I might be joining you.

Who was the other pilot?

I'll keep an eye out for you in case you need an airlift.

Yancy Becket. We found him washed up on the shore more dead than alive. He's still recovering from the worst of his injuries but will be well enough to greet newcomers once they arrive in the Shatterdome and are checked over by Medical and the Marshal.

I take it you know him?

Yancy Becket. I jockeyed with him a few years ago. His brother kinda just saved the world.

His brother was the first thing he asked for once he was conscious again according to the rumor mill. We have kept an eye out for him and their Jaeger on the off chance the Breach likewise spits them out as well, but thus far it hasn't. Maybe it knows better than to steal the kid if he is meant to save the world.

So, how does this whole thing work? Yancy's supposed to be dead. Eaten by a Kaiju.

According to the mun it is a matter of him being yanked out of his timeline before he died. He's not the only pilot we'll end up with that is supposed to be dead. We'll be getting one of the Kaidanovsky duo, too, and there is at least one other pilot coming in that died at some point in their timeline.

And this has to have happened before the Breach was sealed?

No one really knows. The science division is working on trying to understand how it works in conjunction with their studies on how to close the Breach. There is a theory floating around that the Breach is taking people and things from universes that still have active Breaches of their own.

Well, if I get in, I can shed some light on how to close it.

...right, you are a Marshal in some timelines. Well. This will be interesting, having you and Gutierres and Pentecost all in the same place.

Life in the Shatterdome will never be dull, at least.

Supposedly he is one of the ones being brought in by the Breach, if he is not there already, depending on what his player decides.

Oh we have always had our hands full. One of our pilot teams is a set of twenty three year old twins that have gotten into trouble for doing victory dances with their Jaeger. Except them to toss leis around your neck at some point if you show up.

Hawaii's not bad so long as you ignore the tourists. The Shatterdome is located on one of the smaller islands so we don't have to deal with them much, but anyone who decides to visit the big island runs the risk of being swarmed, especially pilots.

That is one thing I am thankful for: the anonymity of being a Jumphawk pilot. I can sit back and let you guys bake in the limelight. On the bright side, you can hang out at the Shatterdome and avoid all of that for a while. I doubt you new guys will get a clean pass to run off into the outside world right off the bat anyway.
