[ selina's eyes narrow as her mouth purses into a line. it's truer than she wants to admit to herself, but while she doesn't necessarily believe in redemption, she does believe in second chances. even if it's a somewhat recent discovery. ]

Sometimes we surprise ourselves. You've heard the saying - never say never.

[ the corners of her mouth turn up in a hint of a smile. Talia would have never imagined the lengths she would go to in her father's honor. but that's the past now, and talia has her own ideals.

Perhaps Selina would make a good ally. ]

[ that smile, however small, is enough to make uneasiness coil in the pit of selina's stomach and a chill to straighten her spine. she knows when she's being assessed, when her usefulness is being gauged, and she knows what happens in talia's circle once they no longer have need for their allies. ]

I don't make a habit of it. But Gotham's doing a pretty good job of destroying itself.

Healthy. Minus a few things he's still healing from.

[ both physically and mentally, both things they're at least in part responsible for. she doesn't like the road this conversation is leading down or the things it's making her remember, which is a sign she should probably leave it.
