No, that's not the word is it. Pleasant! Yes, I'm sure it will be pleasant. You've gotten a ... a 'game' arranged for me, you think. I'm  sure it will work perfectly. Now, no need to worry about voices, just a little rewatch of the charming movie will help.

[He ponders this for a moment, taking off his head and inspecting it before replacing it] Why yes! I am a skeleton. Jack Skellington, at your service.

Nonsense! Why, a good scare is ... is almost as a good as ... [an idea forms in his head] Christmas!

A good scare as good as Christmas. [She giggled.] I've never heard such a notion.

Well, you need a further education, my dear! A good scare is very important to the system, you know.

You see, a person needs fear to be able to know when to be brave. Without a good scare, you wouldn't have your heroes now, would you?

Oh, that is very true, but how can a scare be good to the system?

Yes... well ... [He looks at the blackboard and scratches his skull] Ah! Tolerance! It helps you build your bravery!

Can a person be so brave then, not be scared by anything because they've been scared too much?

Well ... no. There's always something out there that will scare a person. It's how they react to it that shows how brave they are.

I suppose, that makes sense. People stop being scared of some things and start being scared of others. I'm certainly not scared of bugs but my sister can't even stand seeing a spider.

Ah but... I'm still not sure how that's better than Christmas... especially Christmas, actually.

Well, I suppose that's true. But well, forgive me, Mr. Jack but I simply don't enjoy being scared although I quite like Christmas. How terribly confusing to think of scares as a good way. I've never thought as scares as nice, but I do suppose it certainly shows how brave you are!

Perhaps you need to live in Halloweentown to really understand it. It's our job to scare, but we're not mean, you know.
