Even if rumors or the creators may have mentioned that Sonic's "friends" would be present in the new game, it's unlikely they will be part of the main story. I simply cannot imagine myself in any of those level designs.

It's more likely that we will be present in the multiplayer option, if at all. I'm leaning towards the possibility that we will not be included at all. It appears most players simply enjoy playing as Sonic and having at most Tails by his side.

That's fine with me. I'd rather not have to be involved with that blue hedgehog...

[ Folds his arms, eyes closing. ] In terms of games. He seems to only get more arrogant and unbearable as time goes on.

My plans are never ruined, Shadow. I just suffer minor setbacks, that's all. Once I've defeated Sonic, conquering the world will be child's play. You'll see.

[Sonic gave Shadow a grin, though it seemed to soften after time passed.]

[ He was playing a bit, now. It was always fun to tease Sonic like this. They were rivals, even if they were now allies. ]

How am I supposed to know I'm all this light if I don't have a shadow to prove it?

Who said anything about you being the light? [ Even if it was obvious. Sonic's bright smile tended to bring Shadow back to reality. He opened his eyes again at looked at the blue hedgehog. ] Now then, what have you been doing since the last time we spoke? It has to be more interesting than what I've been doing.

[Yes, it was so obvious that Sonic was the light. His ears flicked as he thought about how to answer that question though.]

I've told you, time and time again, that I haven't fallen. Even if it should happen to me in the future, it has not happened yet.

[ It was frustrating to be constantly told of his future... And perhaps he was a bit afraid. He knew that not far into the future, he would fall, and when he came back, he'd have amnesia. No, he wasn't looking forward to it at all. ]

I've heard it all too may times. I know that my future is filled with misery. I'd prefer not to have to hear about it anymore.

[Sonic thought to himself that Shadow should just accept it then if it was the truth or his future, but that would be too cruel. Shadow was patient enough with him over so many other things.]

Heh, isn't the present and what you got now more important anyway? Why should we worry so much about stuff that hasn't come yet and stuff that has already passed us by?
