Bastille Day
Another year gone by... ah la la... so many things have changed, and yet, many more have stayed the same, non? We have a saying in France - un clou chasse l'autre. "One nail chases the other". It means, simply, life goes on. And that, at least, has given me comfort in this past year. Despite the things you have thrown at me! [He gives a small laugh.] Alors, je suppose, the lion's share.
I know you have been very busy with Angleterre as of late, mais... it was very sweet of you to consider me on my national holiday. I know you are tired from your Fourth, mais, fireworks and a parade are always thrilling, oui? And they are most fun when they are French. [A smile, before he puts his cigarette back to his lips and takes a deep breath. After releasing the smoke upwards, he thinks for a moment.] Le Musée du Louvre, et l'Opera, they are free today, I think. Of course, I have not been paying much attention to those things. I remember when most of those works were written, and painted. Though it is nice to stop in, once in a while. Perhaps I will take a small look around before the parade.
[He takes another drag, this time releasing the smoke from his nose. After a pause, he speaks again.]
I would not mind, you know. Joining a game again. Though that is for when you are much less busy - you still have one game you must return to, and another you were planning on joining. Your obligations take precedence, bien sûr. I will wait. [Another of his grins lights up his face.] I have stayed by your side for this long, mademoiselle - it would be terrible of me to abandon you now. I would hardly be able to call myself a gentleman, then! Even if I do have to hear Angleterre complain more often... though I can still handle him on my own.
Do what you must, ma belle. I will be here. Joyeux Quatorze Juillet. Now if you will excuse me, I believe there is a bottle of wine calling my name...

[Don't mind him. He's just... Around.]

Perhaps. I suppose it is a question of whether I will be drinking with someone, or drinking alone~

[Canada comes with two bottles of wine in hand, one his own best ice wine, and the other the best French red he could find.]
It sounds like you've had a quiet year?

[He's going to get a hug. A very nice, long hug, followed by a bise, one kiss on each cheek. After that's done, Francis gently takes the bottles from him and examines them.] Ah, these are lovely... you have always been such an angel to me, Matthieu.
Well, quiet in some ways, not so in others. [France gives Canada a little wink, and then goes back to examining the bottles.] I did return home from a game only a few months ago, when it closed.

He blushes again at the compliment over the wine- let it not be said he didn't learn some things from France.]
It would be remiss of me to not bring you something fine, Papa.
[He gives a small smile in return to the wink.] You always manage to find things to do. I'm sorry that your game closed though.
May I open one for you? [He indicates the bottles with a gesture.]

It'd be fun to see you in a game some time, but I guess that will depend on a lot of different things, eh?

Oui, it will - mostly my mun. Angleterre likes to be hard on her, mais, she is doing her best with what she can. I do not want to rush her into something.

she plucks the cigarette from his lips, dropping it and putting it out with her heel. ] And enough of that. You have much better things to be doing today, oui?

[ Quasimodo raises an eyebrow. This man can't possibly be talking about the palace of the same name, right? ]

Hello, Francois.
It is good to see you.

Enjolras... ah, mon cher, it is wonderful to see you too. [He approaches, but doesn't hug, yet - instead opting to clamp a hand on his shoulder.] You have hardly changed, since I saw you last.

It is not "grape juice", and you know this. There are many nuances to wine! Still... [He eyes the bottle.] A little change would not hurt, to make today more exciting.
