That Clark seems to be having a really tough time. Do you think it would help if we talked to him? You know... let him know it gets better? I have a feeling I'd be doing most of the talking. He doesn't really seem like the chatty sort, does he?

Anyway, I think you should give him a chance. Anyone would be pretty private with a background like that. We're both writers--you have to give in at least a little to genre. Of course that Clark's going to be darker. You knew you weren't reading a comic book or watching a romantic comedy. I mean, I'm flattered you like me better, naturally. But there's room for more than one Last Son of Krypton, right?

[With a grin the strange kid disappeared as he began to move with imperceptible speed and as he circled around his older, old, friend he chuckled as his movements began to form a small whirlwind around his bud.]
