So are you going to actually do anything or am I going to sit in limbo?

Just don't expose me to Johnny or Gyro, and we'll be fine. I don't want to have anything to do with those hacks. Unless I can humiliate them, in which case: negotiable. [he grins] Not like it's difficult. I'd also like to have something to do.

I still have somewhere to be, so don't waste my time.

[A rather nonchalant shrug; it's his job to be where things are happening.]

Must not be too far... I'm started to get used to being shoved everywhere I don't need to be. [if this is some kind of new Stand, he's going to kill the user. He's beginning to suspect it isn't, though. Unless this guy? But... that's not likely.]

At least we're not in danger of randomly being killed. [Famous last words, Diego.]

[Ha, well. Deimos could probably say he's already disproven that statement, but. Have a slightly more involved shrug and an expression that might translate to 'if you say so'.

He'll even step up and offer Diego a reassuring pat on the shoulder. Could be worse.]

[He doesn't push Deimos away, but snorts short and terse through his nose. He really is getting used to understanding this guy, anyway.

['Coddling' would be patting your pretty ass and telling you he's never going to stab you in the back.

Deimos? He expects more than that level of naiveté from a man so proud.

But arguing the point would be more troublesome than it's worth, so instead the noise he makes in response is thinner and more akin to a huff. If Diego would prefer a more cynical welcome, he can certainly provide it; there's an instant between the flutter of his butterfly knife in his fingers and the quick slash he aims at Dio's left cheek -- just a playful test, so much less than the mouse is capable of doing.]

[ So the moment he decides to let that loose is the moment he gets tested--Diego's reflexes are fast as ever, and he sways back, his hands swinging up in a more defensive posture, if loose. That's new. He breaks into a grin, though, with a little chuckle. He's been in enough scuffles, in pubs and otherwise, to know where he's at. ]

Better! You've a sense of humor yet. Color me surprised.

[There's no need to check the blade with how swiftly Diego responds, and in honesty Deimos is certain he would not have anyway. That would be a different kind of coddling. He doesn't follow through with another attack, either, withdrawing if Diego makes no move to counter and letting the knife hang loosely in his fingers as it drops to his side.

The shoulder of his opposite hand rises and falls quickly. Happens sometimes. But that grin is more important to him than the comment; looks good on you, Dio.]

[There's not much that doesn't look good on Dio, js. He's bemused now, at the very least. Deimos is someone he does like. Maybe he just has little tolerance to be annoyed, or maybe it's because he knows Deimos isn't directly competing against him, and serves to be helpful most of the time.

He claps the other on the shoulder, an easy touch, not rough.]

We work well together.

[Deimos could think of some things, but that's because he's a fighter and it's his job to put those things on other people. And of course he's helpful; he's like those fucking fairies in LoZ only sexier and less chatty.

The contact is welcome even if it goes unacknowledged. He can agree that having two people who can coordinate and compensate for each other's shortcomings is valuable -- that's the entire basis of a fighter-navigator pair, after all.

Dio might not be either of those, but he has his own strengths. Why waste the advantage?]
