voice-testing. also, spoilers.
I am obliged to remind you that this endeavor is likely doomed to failure. The odds are overwhelmingly not in your favor. You are human and I am-- not. At least, not enough to entirely matter in this case. We do not think alike.
My reaction to Jim's death was not usual for me. You know this. He is-- different, and will always be different.

As I am new to this experience, however, advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do not expect their logic to be sound - it rarely is. Adapt: negotiation and compromise are preferable to direct opposition. In my experience, success has been the result of a clear plan executed with precision. [He didn't get the Enterprise, but he got Jim, and he considers that a victory.]

And to you.

"Different", you say?

And you're mine, right?
[ Because this totally isn't an awkward conversation after... all that. ]

Are you... okay with those feelings?

Gotta admit, I'm glad to hear that.
And don't worry about being unprepared for it. This is the kind of thing that works better if you just... let it happen, you know?

Thanks for ruining the moment. B(]Okay, then. I'll make sure that you do.

I am uncertain whether to be grateful or wary.

Try being both. A lot of humans feel like that.

Different, Spock?

Do you not believe so? I do not react in that manner to simply anyone.

[ A bit of a grin plays across his lips, and he gives the Vulcan a bit of an eyebrow raise. ] You do know how to make a guy feel special, don't you.
no subject
[ please. let him show you how to loft an eyebrow. ] I was simply stating a fact.
no subject
[ alright, alright, he defers to your eyebrow raising expertise, pointy. ] It's alright.
Thanks for everything. For saving my life. Helping, anyway.

[ ugh you and your annoying nicknames :| ] .. It should not have come to that in the first place. [ he doesn't know how to deal with feels. ]

[ it's affectionate, not derogatory. when it's coming from bones it's derogatory. ]
We were going to die anyway if I hadn't done what I did. "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few," remember? If I could have saved everyone else's life, I would have. And I did. I don't regret it.
no subject
[ don't remind him. he should have been able to think of something, anything to avoid the situation altogether. ] No. Even so, I will do everything in my power to keep that from happening again.

[ There's honestly nothing that could have happened differently, at least, that's what Jim feels, and he's made his piece with exactly what happened. ] Good to know, Spock. Why don't you just accept my gratitude and we'll make it even?

Why is this Jim different? Is he a associate of yours?
