Starfleet is a peace keeping armada, the mistakes of a few don't define the rest of us.

"Armada." The term is used for a fleet of battleships, Mr. Sulu. If then you mean to say that Starfleet keeps peace by having the most might, then perhaps it is not peace they keep.

Your definition of armada is outdated to say the least. There's a difference between civil authority and martial law.

So then what is the difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter? Perspective.

The difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter isn't perspective it's intent. A terrorist doesn't fight for the freedom of others, he fights for his own ideals at the expense of everyone else.

I was fighting for the freedom of myself and 72 other people. Perhaps I should relate the circumstances of our captivity to afford you some perspective.

You know, a friend of mine said something for the history books once. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, and you were ready to destroy the lives of millions for a handful. Sounds like terrorism to me.

[There is a small pause, where he lets his eyes fall slightly.]

Starfleet were my captors, and I had every reason to believe Marcus had followed through with his threats to pop open each cryotube individually and let my people die. What I did-- [He takes a breath to try and keep himself composed.] was perhaps by most accounts, heinous, but it was done out of emotions I could not suppress. Unlike your Vulcans.

[ oh your face is so familiar, but it's been a while since he's looked at the photo archives. ]

Only preparing for the possibility, sir.

[captainpike]

[This Pike wasn't far enough along to have a Sulu at the helm.]

Nothing wrong with aspirations. [hint of a smile] So long as I get to keep my own ship. [No getting his Captain's chair.]

[ He chuckles, nodding. ] I wouldn't dream of taking your ship, sir, though I have to ask which one.

[captainpike]

U.S.S. Enterprise. [How about that?]

[He puts out hand.] Captain Christopher Pike. And you are?

[maneuvers]

[ the look on Sulu's face? One of surprise and understanding all at once. He can't help but smile like the big fanboy of his own ship that he is. ]

Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu, Captain. She's a beautiful ship, the Enterprise.

[captainpike]

[The handshake is firm and resolute.] Lt. Sulu.

She's got a good crew too. I take it you've seen her?

[maneuvers]

[ A weak laugh, sheepish. ] Yes, yes I have, though I don't think you'd believe me if I told you how well I know her.

[captainpike]

[Pike gives him a sharp look, trying to think if he's ever met him before. Nothing comes back.] Are...you one of her designers?

[maneuvers]

No sir, I'm a pilot.

[ well, here it comes. ]

The pilot, in your future.

[Don't look now, but there's a cat sitting in your chair like he owns it.]

[maneuvers]

[ hey. he may be better with plants but that doesn't mean he can't handle an animal. He holds a hand out, for the cat to sniff. ]

Hey there, how did you get in here?

[zunarjayfive]

[The cat looks from the hand to Sulu's face before leaning to give a polite sniff. Don't mind him, he was just admiring your flight controls.]

[maneuvers]

[ okay, communication made. He goes to pick the cat up now, so he can sit in his chair. You can stay comfortable in Sulu's lap if you want though, and get pets. ]

Do you belong to someone or are we attracting strays now?

[zunarjayfive]

[No arguments from the cat, he doesn't mind playing the part of a pet for now. Especially if he gets to observe humans and space travel. The collar he has on is crystalline with no tags to tell who or who's he is.

He settles in the lap but still looks interested at the helmsman's console.]

[maneuvers]

[ the collar gets a look, but oh well, nothing from that. He pins in his access codes into the console, in order to do his necessary checks. ]

We'll find who you belong to when I'm done here, how's that sound?

[Hm? What? He's too busy watching your hands. Okay, so most of this looks familiar...the cat puts out a paw at the flight coordinates, those are different than what he uses. Probably an Earth standardized system.]

Should I be watching over my shoulder for some kind of hostile takeover, Mr Sulu?

[maneuvers]

[ a chuckle, and a shake of his head. ] No sir, not from me. Just enjoying the opportunity.

It's good to know I've got someone in the chair I can count on when I'm off ship.

At the end of the day, it's just a chair.
