I know my job is apparently to help out those in trouble (or who get themselves killed all the time...), but don't you think sending me somewhere like that Tower is pushing it? There's only so much work I can do at a time, not to mention siestas. I'd even take a lunch break.

Besides, not many people would really notice I'm around. I'm small, inconspicuous... I could probably climb the whole tower and back before anyone would bat an eye. Never mind that I could talk to everyone in the Tower with no complications, which is about the only plus to all this. You should probably rethink your decision. It's okay, I'll wait.

What do you mean, no? Sending me there is a terrible idea! I'd much rather take that place that runs on cuddles over that!

All right, then. It started about ten years ago, though it also started around now, come to think of it. On a cold and rainy night... I was killed. I had no idea who did it, or why, or even who I was after that. It was all very confusing, as you might imagine. Ghosts don't really wake up with the clearest of heads.

So I take it that you didn't know you were a cat, then?

You catch on quick.

No, I thought I was someone else. Another dead body that had been in the junkyard, the only one I could see. I didn't have a whole lot of time for introspection, though, since there was someone else about to be killed just as I woke up. That was when I learned about the powers of the dead, or ghost tricks. That's my ability to manipulate nonliving objects by possessing them and making them go. Unfortunately, I couldn't help her escape before the hitman got to her.

So what happened? Did she become a ghost, too?

No.

I went back and saved her. Four minutes before her death, to be exact. That's another of my ghost tricks. But let's skip ahead a bit from there, shall we? I found out from another ghost in the area named Ray that we spirits disappear forever when the sun rises on them. I couldn't accept that, so I started following every lead I could to figure out who and killed me and why before dawn.

...Wait. How would this Ray guy know this?

Yup. Time travel.

I had the same thought, but he was too evasive about it the first time I tried to ask, so I moved on. I got a few leads, like my name was Sissel — I thought it was, anyway — and that I was involved with some odd group, the same ones who had tried to murder Lynne. It wasn't the last time they tried to do that, either. I followed the phone lines to her apartment and found a little girl in peril and a little doggie dead. With his help, I managed to save the both of them, but that didn't give me any answers, either.
