voice testing...

I encourage you to bear in mind that cognitive psychology and common sense abolished the 'irresistible impulse' defense from every rational court of law. You understand what that says about your implicit abduction of me.

I'm not here to tell you what you should do. Only that you have no excuses for doing it.

Services I am happy to provide. I hope you will come to me if there is more I can do.

There is always more to be done.

You need someone to talk to, Jack, before you allow the weight of your personal and professional lives to crush you. Whether that is a psychologist with distance or a friend does not matter.

[A little incline of his head; very well, but there's nothing to hint that he thinks Jack is in any less need.]

We discussed his tendency to build forts in his mind, the first day we met. It's not a fort he requires, it's a wall, one he can view the minds he fears through.

Strategy is the difficulty, in one who adapts so quickly to the people around himself. It may be wise for me to accompany him more often.

Is it my emotional stability you are concerned for, or my physical well-being?

No pretending necessary. As a surgeon, my priority was physical wellness in patients. In psychology, my concern is for the mental state.

I have a psychiatrist of my own, Jack. No need to worry on that account.
