I can't believe you made me sit still for that whole thing. It's late, I'm tired, you're tired I vote we crash. [She yawns loudly. Practically obscenely.]

Stop worrying about it, there's nothing you can do about it. Nothing gets done when we're dead tired like this. Just be happy you got it out of the way tonight. Or this morning. Or whatever time it is.

Well yes and no. I mean; a food processor isn't a droid but it is a machine. get it? Most droids are like-- people shaped too.

You make people machines??

[machina_mistress]

I make machines that look similar to people yeah. But they're really obviously machines. Like how a doll looks like a person but you can still tell it's a doll right?

So you make machine people. That’s not weird at all…

[machina_mistress]

Weirder than making water fly through the air? [she chuckles] But droids are actually really helpful. They can even have personality if the technology is good enough. That can get pretty expensive though.

[alphatar]

That sounds really complicated. I mean, sato-mobiles are still the new hot item, you know? And those aren't cheap either. I know, someone gave me one as a gift. [She scratches the back of her head.] I kind of wrecked it a little while parking though.

[machina_mistress]

Oh that's like a uhm-- land transport right? [haven't seen any of those in a few centuries] Can I see it? This is a great chance to check out ancient technology and if I can figure out how it works I can probably fix it! We don't have a lot of domestic over-ground transportation anymore. Pretty much everything hovers or flies to some extent.

Oh I don't use it for travel personally, it's just when my friends and I need to go somewhere together. Personally I don't care about it, it was a gift for the wrong reason.

So then you wouldn't mind if I say-- dismantled the entire thing and examined every last bolt and piston. [grin]

I’d rather have it kept together in case my friends and I need it again. [She raises an eyebrow.] Do you just take anything you can apart?

[machina_mistress]

Machines? Oh yeah. But that's the best way to get to know them. Once I put them back together they're fine and they usually run better too. It's even my job! I repair things so people can use them again!

I like the new stuff that’s coming out, but I’m not particularly good with machines. [As mentioned in her first parking experience.] How do you take it apart without breaking it?

[machina_mistress]

Well it's all connected parts. So like; the same way you could take any other thing down it's base parts like a chair or a table. You can do that with machines too. The only real hard part is removing the outer covering without damaging it. But that can be repaired or even replaced just like anything else.

I’ve ripped a few machines apart and it’s nothing like simple connecting pieces. There’s cables and electricity and sometimes weird liquid. [What the heck is that stuff anyway…] I think I’ll stick to my pro bending and Avatar business for now.

[machina_mistress]

[excuse her amused chuckle] Well yeah you have to drain the fluid and disconnect the wires. Otherwise you just make a mess and it'll cost more to replace that stuff.

It’s all just a mess to me anyway, I’ll leave that stuff to Asami. She seems to know her way around that stuff too, but considering her father invented the sato-mobiles it shouldn’t be too surprising. [She sneers.] Even though he’s a completely horrible person.

Oh? Is he like; a serial killer or something? [while she's talking she brings out a metal ball with half the outside missing; revealing a mess of wires and chips inside which she starts to tweak and rearrange idly]

No. He's just a part of this anti-bending faction, Equalists, who are trying to overthrow the council of the city and supplies them with new machines and equipment to help them do it. [Korra looks at the little doo-dad she has, but really it just like a metal bowl filled witl cables. Almost like noodles, but a lot less appealing.]

[machina_mistress]

Oh that is bad. Over where I'm at we had a republic until a few years ago when the "elected official" took over. Now apparently it's an Empire. [she tweaks a few things and the machine begins to lift into the air. Catching it quickly she puts the top back on and the ball hovers near them occasionally turning in one direction or another; as indicated by the movement of a row of divets forming a band around the 'middle']

Wow, that sounds awful! [Korra backs away from the floating machine, nearly punching it when came to close to her comfort zone.] What the heck is this thing??

[machina_mistress]

Yeah it's craptastic. Careful taking swipes at that by the way [she says as a tiny bolt of energy is shot out in the direction the attack came from.]

It's a tool for training Jedi. They blindfold the student and he or she is supposed to use the force to sense the laser blasts and deflect them with their uhm...light swords.

hm. I should really try and get one of those swords so I can find out what makes them work. Jedi are really uptight about their weapons though.

Ow! [The bolt stings her arm and she rubs the spot glaring at the little floating machine.] In a minute it's going to be crushed pile of trash. [She blinks a few times.] The force? I've heard of that before. It sounds like harnessing chi like the Air Nomads do.

Blindfolded though? Sounds like something Tenzin would suggest for some spiritual reason or another.

Yeah [she nods] There are some primitive worlds that even still think it's called "magic". They can connect to it and I guess use it as a substitute for seeing. Seems like a good training device even without the force though. You learn to rely on your instincts more than your sight right?

[alphatar]

I guess you could...? Either way I don't like it. [She sticks her tongue out at the thing and crosses her arms.]

[machina_mistress]

[she chuckles] Well if it can out maneuver you then that makes it a better training tool I guess. [Ymela catches the floating ball and presses a button on the top, powering down the machine]
