[ was he dreaming again? Was Astralfield's abilities gone out of control? ]

[ No, it was not an illusion. It wasn't something he dreamed up. Facing him was the same beautiful woman he had followed for four years. Her eyes, her words. His words were almost strained as he spoke. ]

Shizuka-sa..ma....

[ There were only rare moments in time where he would show his emotions and this was one of those times.

The usually collected and stoic twin had tears welled up at the corners of his lilac hues. There was no mistaking it. It was Shizuka and she was alive. She was alive!

But he didn't deserve to see her right now. He had failed to avenge her and he had died in vain. This was not the way he wanted her to see him. He wanted to prove to her the extent of his abilities and his love for her.

This was not that time. He could do nothing but allowed his emotions to seep through. ]

[That beautiful voice that guided her through the darkness, that solemn presence that gave her peace in her death, was now calling on to her. Was it a dream?

She quickly turned to see that it was. He was alive. This was enough to allow a shy smile to grace her pale lips]

[She didn't need to be a pureblood to know that something made Ichiru sad. Those tears were not because of happiness to see her. There was something else. In her slumber, did another pureblood drench her Ichiru in their blood?

She walked to him slowly and raised her frail fingers to catch his tears with a mournful expression]

Ichiru...

[ The immense sorrow and grief he had pushed down had returned. There was no denying it. He was content to see her alive and not dead. He remembered how desperately he held onto the Pureblood until there was nothing more of her. He even failed to accomplish the goal that he had set out to do.

He couldn't kill Rido, and he was stuck in another place without any means of escape. This was not the fate he was looking for. Was his fate always so twisted? It took everything away from him and the most important person in his life, died but now she was here as if nothing happened.

How was it possible. He knew that she wasn't a fake, and she wasn't an illusion. Her voice and her actions, he remembered very well. Even the softest marks of her voice, he could still remember. ]

Shizuka-sama...Shizuka-sama...is alive.

[ He didn't move from the ghostly touch. In fact he craved it. It was so long, so very long. ]

[Shizuka had to many questions and too many things to say. But all her words were lost when she saw Ichiru and felt his emotions. She thought that by now Ichiru would have moved on with his life and forgotten about the sorrows that she caused him. He deserved a good life, he was a good man. If circumstances were different, she wanted nothing else but to grant him strength and keep him away from all possible harm. She never wished to pull him into the darkness of her world.

She kept her slender fingers hovering over Ichiru's face, whilst the tip of her fingers brushed his cheeks and wiped his tears from time to time. Her pale face not properly conveying her happiness to see him, instead reflecting her sadness for Ichiru.]

..Are you sad?

[ It wasn't that easy to move one. He had more or less buried the feelings behind a mask, but the resurfaced when he saw her. He couldn't describ the emotions he felt. In fact, he didn't even know how to express what he was feeling.

He didn't move on with his life as she expected him to. He pursued the 'supposed' perpretrator, and attempted to kill him. In the end, he was suppose to be dead too, but he was alive. It made sense since these planes would allow such things to exist. Even Zero was surprised to see him.

There was definitely something abnormal about these planes and dimensions but he didn't want to think about that. All he wanted to do was stay with her, stay with the his master, even if he wasn't a vampire. If only he could have been given the chance, he would have been willing to accept it. ]

I have failed to avenge Shizuka-sama.

[ He didn't deserve to see her right now. ]

[Revenge. Wasn't that the reason why she took solace in the fact that Kaname took her life? He was supposed to seek revenge for her. She didn't want a grim and lonely path for her Ichiru. She didn't want him to be in harms way. She couldn't even afford to take revenge without taking Kaname's life.

Shizuka clasped Ichiru's cheeks with her slender fingers covering one of his eyes. She wanted to thank him for being thoughtful. Just the mere idea that he tried was enough for her. She would be very hurt to know that he died trying when all she wanted was for him to move on. But even now, tears trickled down from her eerie pink eyes.]

I'm sorry if you needed to avenge me. I should have been stronger.

[ Revenge was what he swore on the day Shizuka died. He could not allow her death to be like that. He didn't even know that Kaname was the onet hat murdered her. He wouldn't forgive him if he learned of the truth.

He remained unmoving, but the tears flowed freely, small droplets of water dripping on her hand as her fingers brughed against his cheeks. She was also crying. He could see the small waterline that formed at the corner of her eyes.

Why? ]

Because Shizuka-sama is kind, that's why--

[ He looked down. ]

[She wanted revenge on another pureblood. On the being that damned her fate. So she will never speak of Kaname as her killer. She wanted to use that to her advantage, and to blackmail Kaname in the future if she needed it. Also, Kaname's powers have surely grown, not that she underestimates Ichiru, but she much rather have him alive by her side, rather than dead on Kaname's hands.

She whisked his tears with the tips of her fingers, desperately stopping them from falling down his cheeks. How cruel could she be, allowing this sweet one to enter the same dark forest that she was born in. She should have denied herself his company long ago. He wouldn't have had to suffer such a sad destiny if only she denied him entry.

She used her other hand to slowly raise Ichiru's head back up to face her once more, while she shook her head]

You're eyes are too kind, too blind to the darkness surrounding me.

[ Ichiru would not take that well if he knew. In fact, it would only anger him that he was deceived for so long. He never had much interest for Kaname, but he knew what Kaname was and what he was capable of. Someone of Ichiru's caliber was nothing compared to Kaname.

If only he was stronger. His knuckles were turning white. There was already a festering darkness that drew him in, even before her existence. He had already loathed his existence, and he had no place int he world. There was always something about Shizuka that drew him more to her, and she understood his sorrow, just as he could relate to her.

Those fingers that grazed his face, he remembered. His tears still freely flowed, even though she was trying to stop them. ]

No, Shizuka-sama has been kind to me. It doesn't matter what surrounds Shizuka-sama

[Thinking about Kaname made Shizuka fear for Ichiru's safety. It was no secret that Ichiru was Shizuka's companion. As much as she rejected the notion of any relationships between them, the other purebloods and nobles would never look kindly at Ichiru being by Shizuka's side. She was afraid now more than ever that Ichiru was beside her once more. She should have just died and never resurrected.]

If I am truly kind, why do I make you cry this way?

[She had a short frown on her face and a sad expression. This was wrong. They should never be rejoined.]

[ Ichiru didn't care for the danger he had placed himself in. It was a decision he made for himself, and a decision that was frowned up even by his precious brother. He knew just how he was and he would never change that aspect of his. If he wanted to do something, he would do whatever was necessary to obtain it. ]

I'm content, that Shizuka-sama is alive, but I have failed. I wasn't able to protect Shizuka-sama.

[ And because he didn't want to lose her. Those tears were tears of happiness if anything. ]

[She pauses and fixes Ichiru's long hair to prevent it from covering his face]

[ Ichiru's tears had long stopped falling, but the dried tear stains were there, showing evidence of his sorrow. It would not easily disappear, not now, not ever. ]

[ His form still clung to her as she brushed his hair away. ]

I'll avenge Shizuka-sama no matter what.

[ No matter what he had to do to get it done. ]

[She held on to him firmly. If only she wasn't a vampire. If only she could be the person whom he fights so fervently for, and deserve it. He was too kind, he was too loyal, she didn't deserve it. It was too painful but she had to ask.]

[ It only allowed him to tighten his grip on her. He didn't want to let go. He never wanted to lose her again. He didn't. ]

I want to be with Shizuka-sama.

[ Because she was important to him and because he cared for her. Zero was important, but Zero would be fine without him. Zero didn't need him to hold Zero down. ]

[Her body was motionless. She wanted to remember how being held like this felt like, so that she'd remember until the end of her immortal life. Because soon, Ichiru will die, and she will be alone once more.]

You will only cry if you stay with me. Pain and darkness follows me every where.

[Ichiru is very important to Shizuka as well. She couldn't care less if everyone died in a freak accident. She didn't care if the world ended. For as long as Ichiru stays by her side, Shizuka is content]

[ He would stay with her as long as she wanted to have him around. He would still offer to stay with her forever, even if she refused him again and again. He didn't want to depart from her. He didn't want to leave her alone. ]

It doesn't matter. Being with Shizuka-sama is my wish.

[ He valued her highly and he would never betray her, ever. ]

['As is my wish', she fervently thought. She wanted nothing else but to have him with her forever. But as much as she wanted having Ichiru in her world, she didn't want to prevent him from going back to the sun-filled world that he deserves. Being a vampire is not a privilege, it's a curse. So she pulled away from Ichiru and looked at him steadily.]

Your world will be filled with sadness if you do this.

[She knows how loyal Ichiru can be. His loyalty was one of the most valued qualities of Ichiru.]

[ He didn't care what his life would be like. It was something he decided for himself and he was going to go through with it no matter what. No one had any say in stopping him, even if it was Shizuka. He would follow her as long as she allowed him to, and would still follow her even if she didn't want him with her. ]

It's fine, as long as I can be with Shizuka-sama.

[ He was headstrong with his words, unchanging. ]

[Shizuka stepped back with tears in her eyes as she looked at Ichiru. She maintained a serious expression as she spoke.]

Are you really so lonely that you'd allow yourself to be consumed by my darkness? You're not bound to me, you can go whenever you please!

[She says this, but inside, she can only beg for him to stay with her forever]

[ He didn't want her to say that. It was as if she was throwing him away. He was not bound to her, and she was right. He wanted to be bound to her, he wanted that connection that could not be severed easily.

A pained expression lined his face. ]

Shizuka-sama is important to me, and I will do anything for Shizuka, even if it means being consumed by darkness.

[ He didn't want to lose her again. ]

[She looked at him steadily. Shizuka had a heart, and hearing something like this from Ichiru tugged on it. She didn't want to lose Ichiru's companionship, but she's afraid that he might not know the consequences of his actions. He's the most important person to her]

Don't you miss the company of your kind? Don't you miss Zero?

[ He was already prepared to accept any consequences if they were to happen. He simply didn't care. He would do anything he could to keep Shizuka safe. ]

Shizuka-sama is all I need.

[ He replie firmly. He loved Zero, but he couldn't stay with him. ]

[She smiled softly, very pleased of Ichiru's response.]

Your words make me happy. Stay with me til the end Ichiru.

[She leaned in close to Ichiru to give him a quick kiss on his lip]

[ He nodded his head to her words. ]

I will do as Shizuka-sama wishes.

[ He was caught off guard by her sudden contact. ]

Shizuka-sama!

[ There was a tint of pink on his cheeks. ]

[She gave Ichiru a gentle smile, cupping his cheeks on the palm of her hands]

You need to get used to my kisses if you are to stay with me until the end.

[ He kept his face looking the other way, his face reddening a little more at her words. ]

Shizuka-sama only teases me. I'm not sure if Shizuka-sama is serious.

[She moved Ichiru's head with her slender fingers so his eyes are upon her once more. She favored him with a cheerful smile]

I love seeing you turn this red. I'm serious, and I don't want you to turn this red for anyone else Ichiru~kun. [She said in a playful tone]

[ He gave her a serious look as she said that, recovering from his initial embarassment and looked at her after looking away earlier. ]

...Shizuka-sama...

I will never say this to anyone else, so please acknowledge my words and actions.

[She looked at Ichiru with her eerie pink eyes]

It's only for you.

[She refuses to acknowledge her love for him, but he will be the only one to receive Shizuka's affections.]

Shizuka-sama never lies. I believe what Shizuka-sama has to say.

[ He nodded his head to her as she looked at him. ]

[ She was always like this with him. He doesn't know anymore. ]

So please stop looking at me with those lonely lilac eyes, and smile for me.

...Shizuka-sama.

[ He looked away. It wasn't intentional, but sometimes he felt that Shizuka was far away. ]

[Shizuka smiled calmly. It was a faint whisper, but she spoke to Ichiru]

For as long as I live, I promise Ichiru will never be alone.

Can you not find something else worth living for?

[She looks at the brother of her fiancee cautiously]

I'm afraid fate has been cruel, and took everything that I lived for.

You've been given a new direction to take your fate.

[Away from his brother, the chains of the Pureblood race, of whatever occurred since his own demise.]

The chains that bind you no longer exist.

[Of course, she thinks of Haruka nicely unlike his despicable older brother]

[He can very much agree his brother is despicable. Fortunately, he isn't very popular.]

My daughter has found the world Juri and I had always wanted for her and I have been given this chance to see her truly happy.

[She once dreamed of those beautiful things. Having a loving husband, peaceful children and a happy home was something she desired. But from the time of her birth, all was lost.]
