I've never met other mutants before. It might take some getting used to. But maybe I should try? I mean, if they can help me control my powers, and wouldn't be mad when I lost control, there's some definite potential there. I just - I would have a room mate, correct? Mundane, we both know exactly why that wouldn't work out. And I don't want to make waves. Really, I'm content with my books and going hiking, I don't need friends. It'd be nice, though...

I just... I'm not very good, at being social. I don't know if I'd be able to be a good roommate. All my life it's just been me and my father in my house, so I'm... not really used to lots of people. I even get nervous at normal school.

You probably won't have to worry, some people there don't seem to take any interest in their roommate at all. And if you have problems you can always change rooms. [She shrugs.]

I know. That's why I'm not really sure it's the best idea, but... it's up to the mun in the end. And I really do need to prioritize. Powers are more important than being uneasy for a while.

Rozene, can I ask you a strange question? About the game, and the people there. I need you not to tell anyone I asked it, either. I just want to know - if I got in, would I be the only Muslim student there?

[That's the main source of her terror of leaving home. Not that her hometown was a beacon of multiculturalism, but it was easy in rural areas to just keep to herself. And pray without disrupting anyone's day. With a room mate...]

I don't know. I think there's a couple of Jewish students around and no one takes issue with them. But I guess that isn't quite the same.

( She shrugs again. ) I think as long as you don't get all preachy on someone it should be fine, right? I mean, I get there's other issues that people think about but screw that and screw them if they wanna get all whatever about it. Shouldn't matter so much what others think. ( And yet she still can't seem accept she's a mutant. )

I'm not a preachy kind of person. Just existing got me enough unwanted attention back home. I really don't want to cause problems for anyone. But I'm not going to stop praying or something just to fit in. I may not be the bravest person, but I still have standards, if that's not too preachy sounding.

I hear you about not being brave... I don't know how so many of them are so eager to put together teams and fights these Sentinels. They sent the X-Men packing like they were nothing! They'd kill us, how can they want into that?

Some people are just made to be fighters. I'm not sure I'll ever understand how their minds work, but I admire their bravery. Someone has to do it, I guess.

They're willing to throw their lives away! Some of them are younger than me! And the teachers encourage them. How is that not insane?

Because there may come a day when we all need to defend ourselves, even the mutants who don't want to. So those that take up the call - they're important. They're the first wave of defense we have. Even if they're young, they're not useless and they're not making the decision lightly. They're just doing what they think is right.

I don't think some of them have thought it through. I think they're just doing it because others are.

Unless you've talked to them, and know them, you can't say that for sure. You shouldn't judge them all like that. It's mean-spirited.

Wanting to fight isn't the same thing as wanting death. They're doing what they think is right and that needs to be respected even if you and I don't understand the reason why. We're on the same side, remember?

They beat the X-Men. The one's actually trained for that stuff. They nearly killed them. It'll be the same for any of us, only probably worse.

So long as one person is left standing, there's always hope. I know it. Things will get better.
