It's not that I don't appreciate everything you want to do for me, it's just... well....

Are you really sure that's the best place for me? Mother would be furious. And... and I think she might be right. It doesn't really sound safe. And, as nice as it would be not to have to worry so much about my hair... it's part of me. This power... it's part of me. And it's what makes me... special. [She starts finger combing a small section that she pulls over her shoulder, nervously.]

Besides, it's almost my birthday. Couldn't you, oh, wait another few months? Or years, maybe?

Mother says it's dangerous, out there. Out here. For me. That's why I've lived in a tower my entire life, because Mother cares about me and wants to protect me.

Isn't that more important than having an adventure?

More importantly, there's a great big world out there full of toys and candy and movies and flying and glitter and mallets and animals and doughnuts and kisses and video games and silly hats!!!

Fun! And exciting! And delishous! There's so much to see and do and learn! Rules only hold you back!

But... Mother says the rules keep me safe.

*grabs some hair and ties a loop in it, hooping it around Repunzel's middle*

Rules are like ropes. The more you have the harder it is to move.

*takes the hair loop and drags her around*

And you're stuck with those rules no matter where they take you!

*spinning her now*

And you can never, will never see the world if you're tied down!

[Rapunzel squeaks again when Harley grabs her hair like that, and as soon as she can break free - it happens to be when she's being spun, and she almost falls completely down, but only just manages to save herself, and scrambles backwards and up onto a chair, clutching armfuls of her hair close and reeling the rest in as quickly as she can.]

What are you doing? What do you want with my hair? Who are you?

[Rapunzel is finally, and to her horror, realizing that Harley might well be one of the people Mother warned her about, despite the lack of fangs and the fact that she's also a woman.]

[Harley actually looks confused]

Aw, you weren't listening at all were ya?

[sighs and flops onto the ground]

Why would I want your hair? I got hair of my own.

[tugs on her own ponytails ]

[Yeah nope not coming any closer. Her voice doesn't sound particularly afraid, but her body language isn't quite backing up her bold tone, standing on a chair pressed against the wall, half hidden by armfuls of hair.]

[tucks her hands behind her head and crosses her legs remaining on her back]

Nah, that's stupid. Who would buy a bunch of hair?

Well yeah, bald people I guess. Probably ought to avoid bald guys.

[Okay, shutting up now. Cautiously, Rapunzel peers a little more out from behind all that hair.]

So you... don't want my hair.

Nope!

*dismissive wave*

But if it'll make us friends I'll comb it for ya! We could even style it. I'm thinking braids.

[Her chin lifts, almost smugly.]

Ah-ha. So that's your ploy, is it?

*rolls backwards and onto her bottom sitting cross legged*

trust me toots, if I wanted your hair I could take it.

*rolls again into a backhand spring doing three flips, a twist and landing on one hand, legs split in the air.*

Ta daaaah!

[Rapunzel stares, then smiles, then laughs a little.]

[She keeps on giggling for a few moments]

But... But Mother says....

You know what MY mother says?

My mother says that I'm a disappointment. She lets my brother lounge around all day playing games while his two kids barely have clothes that fit, and she says that I'M the one she's ashamed of. I'm a doctor! And I've saved people's lives. But it doesn't matter to her.

Mother's don't know everything. Sad but true.
