Canon Upd- Modifying.

...so they came up with a name and ethnicity for me. I don't even know what an ethnicity is. And I don't know what the name is, remember? I don't know much of anything, so... Oh. You're going to see if they'll take me at [community profile] dragonhaven? But what about my magic? Wouldn't I blow it all up before I could start remembering things like life before the cell and my old name?

Well this isn't the foundation so they would be able to suppress your magic.

Either way I'm certain your mun can work something out to make that happen.

No one deserves to be in that position.

It's as limited as the human imagination.

In fact my mundane wants to make a game which the premise would allow for you to be there.

The story behind it.

[He would have to be mindful of that lack of memory.]

It's perfectly alright.

I would be a very rude person if I didn't accommodate your situation.

Hopefully you will have this time to learn as many words as you want.

Of course.

[He held out his arm to her, sure to keep a distance since he wasn't sure how she felt about male proximity right about now.]

The simplest explanation is some groups of people have different colors of skin. I come from a place called England where many of the people are light-skinned.

Ethnicity mainly shows what part of the world your family came from.

It's not about what 231-7 deserves. It's about the safety of the human race. And kinder options were not available. If they were, they would have been implemented long ago.

There is nothing in her file about testing alternate methods. From the looks of it you went straight to your protocol.

And considering your protocol for all D-class personnel I don't think you have much standing in a moral debate.

Say what you will about the SCPs themselves, I don't think our debate on that would go anywhere, but in the end you are still killing people on a regular basis. These people are not all death-row inmates as you are well aware and not all of them need to be terminated.
o5_12: (Talks With His Hands)

[personal profile] o5_12 2013-03-18 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
The moral debate as outlined by our Ethics Committee is rather straightforward: the lives of the roughly six billion people on this planet outweigh the lives of a few people. Even if those people happen to be children. Yes, the D-Class are regrettable losses. But they enable the world to keep existing as you know it.

Other methods were not tested because there was not a single one that was viable. The cult's notes had a schedule laid out; there was a literal point of no return. Now that we are past it, even releasing the files to every group on our radar couldn't produce a solution.

It's a touch cruel to give her false hope. Hence memory wipes.

[personal profile] gentleman_thief 2013-03-18 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
You're avoiding my point. EVERY D-Class is terminated regardless if they die in testing or not. Whether they are people who were simply demoted or not.

And you expect a cult to have a clear understanding of the magic they're working? For all you really know you could be bringing whatever is coming to maturity so in essence you could just be buying time.

Your foundation is a string of poor and unethical decisions.

[personal profile] o5_12 2013-03-18 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Memory erasure doesn't work on everyone and we can't afford leaks. In addition, we have SCPs with diets consisting of human flesh that do not react well to having synthetic substances fed to them. The human race repopulates at a rate where all we're doing is maintaining a balanced population.

Take it up with the Ethics Committee. But should we ever meet in a game I will give you 231-7's full files, happily. And vouch for your ideas if you come up with a damn thing.
gentleman_thief: (Default)

[personal profile] gentleman_thief 2013-03-18 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Death-row inmates I'll begrudgingly accept but your group has been known to demote your own people to D-class. Wouldn't it seem that if they survived you would upgrade their status rather than simply terminating them?

That I can accept at least.

[He pauses.]

I know your job is difficult, and you can't always take the moral high road. I just think in this situation you are wrong and missing something.
o5_12: (Regrets)

[personal profile] o5_12 2013-03-18 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Virtually all of the people demoted to D-Class are unable to pass even the most basic psychological tests afterwards. If they're unstable, then even if I disagree with the people who did the demotion, I can't in good conscience promote them. And the suicide rate at the bottom rungs is higher than our files will ever admit.

I've authorized testing with 239. We're working on it. But we cannot be lax in the meantime. We have our hands full with nearly two thousand SCPs at this point; it's hard to keep on top of everything.

Hopefully this business of meeting people from other universes will help you somehow.

I work for my own organization that would extend a hand should we somehow find a way to do so. We have a lighter load than yourself due to our policy of taking in some of our own anomalies as agents if they are agreeable and sane enough.

[personal profile] o5_12 2013-03-18 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
After the SCP 1322 incident, we're treating the multiverse with much more caution. I'm not sure we'll ultimately come away with any gains from this, but the potential for losses is what I've been trained to see.

The O5 are something of a democracy. Cross-universe help would have to be run by them. Putting any one man in charge of the Foundation would immediately end in disaster. But if possible I would put that idea forward to the others. We could certainly use a hand that doesn't have ulterior motives; but you'd understand if we took a while to investigate you first.
