There's what looks to be a very agitated monster, pacing and wringing their hands worriedly.

"Why do I have to leave the caves!? Why do I have to leave my family? I'm to be married soon!" She protests.

"I don't want to be among humans. There are too many there to eat."

Oh dear.

Ele lights up as soon as she sees the other grue. "Hello!" Her tail wags. But the other grue doesn't look happy. "...You aren't being forced to go too, are you?"

[gruesome]

"Oh, yes, I already am," he says apologetically, stepping closer. It has been so long since Some has seen another grue. All his body language is wrong, and he knows it.

"Wh-where are you from?"

[itsdark]

His body language is off and Ele notices it. Unsure, she lifts a foreleg and grasps her other foreleg with it's foot. An indication that she's uneasy.

"You haven't been able to escape?" She looks worried. "Marblestone caves. Where are you from?"

[gruesome]

"... All-Falls-In." He had never heard of Marblestone. "River-Eaten, in All-Falls-In."

Some scrubbed a hand through his fur, making his crest stand up and then smoothing it down again. "My name is Some ovMennet. What's yours?"

[itsdark]

And Ele has never heard of All-Falls-In or River-Eaten. She looks perplexed when he says his name. She'd been unable to see his scars from the angle she was facing him.

"But if you are a Some, why can't you just move back home?" She asks. "My name is Ele."

[gruesome]

He frowned, head drawing back in a movement that was, finally, pure grue. "Because I can't. I would have gone home the day I came, if I could. There isn't a way."

[itsdark]

"I don't understand, all Some's can move." She places her foreleg back down and moves closer to him, inhaling his scent. He wasn't sick, as far as she could tell. "Did the humans do something to your marks?"

[gruesome]

"I could move, until I came to this world... No, not that I can find." He reached behind himself, spreading a hand on his back, and then twisted enough to show them to her. They were extensive, as all Some's were, and perfectly intact, though other scars came close to encroaching on them.

[itsdark]

Ele examines them. "Your marks are still whole." She says, frowning. How could they possibly keep him from moving without damaging his marks?

[gruesome]

He straightened, walking a half-circle around her. "They stop the things a lot of people should be able to do. It is to make the fights 'fair.'"

[itsdark]

She turns her head only slightly to follow him, easily able to see him from wherever he chooses to move around her. "But how?" She asks. "It doesn't sound fair to me." Those who have an advantage should get to keep their advantage if the humans are going to make them fight.

[gruesome]

He shrugged, with a slightly helpless smile. "I am no better at their science than I was when I came. I don't know."
