For one, head aches are commonly associated with super-intelligence; as are things such as extreme mental duress and needing more rest than others.

And besides; it has been proven through multiple studies that everyone has a distinct style of learning that fall into three categories - visual, auditory, and kinetic.
What you describe is kinetic - learning through doing, or a hands on experience.
My learning style is primarily visual - I learn through reading.
