[Damian tenses, but it barely lasts a moment before he relaxes into the hug, wrapping his arms around Dick.]

It had better be soon. I understand using my demise as some paltry attempt at emotion, but this was too pathetic to be tolerated. My head looked like a piece of mangled grapefruit. Evidently, you can die a hero, but not a dignified one. [And Damian is a Wayne. Of all the Robins, he, at least, should have a dignified death. Or so he thinks.]

If they don't bring me back immediately, Father... [And now Damian's run into a problem, because he doesn't exactly know how to tell this girl - even if she's Batgirl - that he's worried about Batman, that Damian didn't want to die, that he's worried he won't come back for a long time, like Todd, or that he doesn't know what to do with himself now that he's dead. He hates it.]

[And of course, when he's feeling insecure or scared, he lashes out. And since Barbara's here...]

It's not like you died anyway. You just sat around a lot.

[There's a moment of silence as Barbara gathers her thoughts.]

I have a younger brother. An actual one. He's got issues of the sociopathic variety, and he's lashed out at me and tried to hurt me. A lot. Having said that, I'm going to ignore the fact that you're lashing out at me out of anger, fear, or whatever it is that's causing you to be a little jerk, because we both know that you're not the little sociopath that some people make you out to be.

As for immediately? Good things come to those who wait.

Or you could end up like Jason.

[Not the sociopath that people make him out to be? Not that he cares, but are people gossiping about him? Who? And more importantly, which women are listening? Not that he cares.]

There's never been a Robin with a death wish as marked as Jason's. I doubt he even knows what purposes crowbars serve other than murdering people.

[Damian freezes as he tries not to show how pleased he is by that. Sure, it's only Grayson expressing his pride in him, not Father, but Dick being proud of him is still a good thing. A great thing.]

And the day is saved once again.

[And yes, his chest might just be a little puffed out. Because he had saved the day, hadn't he? And Grayson is proud. And so what if the art was horrible and he deserved better? He might still come back, and when he does, Dick will have been proud of him.]

[He'd have taken almost any other option, though, if it meant Damian got to live.]

[... he'd BETTER come back, okay? Dick will never not be proud of him, he was already even without this.]

If these fools who purport to be writers know what they're doing, they'll do it soon. And if they're smart, they'll take precautions. Batman doesn't respond well to Robins being killed. [Particularly when the Robin in question is his own son. Right?]

We better be getting those dogs. [He's not upset shut up.]

[Damian is quiet for several minutes.]

[Nonetheless, he still gets ready to go. Stupid writers for killing him off. Stupid Jason for trying to be nice about it. Sometimes, Damian misses the days when he would simply just try to kill them all. At least then, he knew how to respond. But with his promises not to kill anymore and people being nice to him? Dealing with dying is bad enough, but people - Jason - being nice to him...]
