Yes, I know you saw that thing on...plurk about Ed and Al wanting me in that game. I wouldn't want to leave them in some game without me, especially Ed, and I know that was the reason you picked me up in the first place, but...

[But the mun has never been comfortable with the sort of setting there. And neither would Winry be comfortable about it at all.]

Ugh. I can't believe you're even considering this for a second. Aren't you in enough of these 'games' and all already? I know you miss playing me. I get it. But can't you consider somewhere else if you really did want to take me to a game?

How do you mean? The Einstein-Rosen bridges.....?

[Even if this is not quite rambling about alchemy, you have still lost her here, Ed. You and Al are the science geeks, not her. So she is just giving you a rather blank and confused look about now.]

Wasn't really in a place where I could get anyway. And Einstein-Rosen bridges are... [ a dismissive wave of his hand. ] Never mind. Point is, me and Al are still working on it, but since I haven't been able to take on the twelve headfirst without my mechanic, I can't find out more.

And so that would be why you want me to be there?

[Because. Typical Ed, all she gets from this is he needs his mechanic. Which, yes, he does. But she is still a little annoyed when it sounds like he just intends to go off fighting and busting it up when and if she gets there.]

I don't suppose there is a library or something you can find out more information from, without fighting and breaking your auto-mail?

[ aw, winry. she should know it's more than that. he just has a hard time spitting the real reason out. ]

I've been working at the library, actually. And Al works at the apothecary. 'Tween the two of us, we've gone through almost all the books we could find and they're sparse at best. They got as many books as Central, but less information than our old man's shelves.

[ shakes his head, despairing. because lbr, ed/books = forever otp. ]

But, uh... [ clears his throat. ] Al's been working on making pies. They're not quite good as yours though. So, having a good cook 'round would be nice for once.

Somehow, that doesn't surprise me at all, knowing the two of you. But that's...almost depressing if there are that many books and you didn't really learn anything new from all of them.

[Even Winry reads a lot with her auto-mail apprenticeship, and before that she had read just as much in her desire to become a doctor like her parents before Granny had taken her in.]

Al's been making pies? I'd have to make him one then.

Yeah, but... y'know. We make due.

[ flashes a sort of half-grin. really, ever since winry had left zodion, they've been "making due", just getting by even when they felt empty without her. ]

He'd love that. He'd spend all day picking your brain for recipes, stuff to make with you.

I'm sure I could give him some ideas. If and when my mun might decide to app me, at least if she does she has the app more or less done, just would need to edit it for the zodion one specifically.

Guess it wouldn't take much to get you here, huh? [ a beat and then he smirks. ] Admit it, you really do wanna see me an' Al again.

Probably not too much in terms of the app thing, no. Of course I want to see you and Al again, Ed.

[ smirkity. ]

Has your mun decided on a canon point at all?

She's not entirely sure yet. But chances are that it'll be from the manga timeline. Just. Hopefully not the Promised Day.

I wouldn't say this is anything set in stone but I guess she feels a little better about not needing to play out...that aspect if she ends up deciding to go through with it.

[ wup his ears are heating up again and he's forced to clear his throat. ]

Right. Right, yeah, that sounds alright. Al's from Brotherhood so you two'll share that bit.

Anyway, 'sgood your mun does feel better. I'm sure my mun'll help with, y'know, whatever.

Oh. Well, I guess that will help lessen things being too confusing....

Y-yeah. I mean, she's tried it once or twice but...it's just never really something that she really got comfortable with doing. [But now her own cheeks are heating up as she looks to the floor. Winry is still so unsure about this place.]

[ looking away, he shoves his hands into his pockets and clears his throat again. ]

It's, uh, yeah. Dunno how my mun manages. But you won't hafta worry 'bout that, Winry. Neither you nor your mun.

Well, maybe she might not, but....even if she doesn't actually play it out....

[It would still be happening regardless. So. She would still be worrying about it all the same.]

[ reaches out and settles a hand atop winry's head, ruffling her hair gently. ]

We'll figure it out. It'll be okay. Whatever happens, alright? You and your mun won't hafta do anything you guys don't want to.

[Blinks, looking back to him hesitantly before nodding. She still looks a little uncertain but can't help but be a little relived at his reassurance.]

Okay, Ed....

[ dropping his hand again, he turns away from her, sliding both hands back into his pockets. ]

And don't worry so much 'bout my automail. I've been taking good care of it since you were last there.

I'll be the judge of that, Ed.

[ huffs and holds out his arm for her to inspect. might as well get it over with, right?

it actually is in pretty good condition, being a blend of manga!winry's northern automail design combined with the work cos!winry gave him in the rubble under central. ]

[And yup, she will oblige by checking it over. It doesn't seem in too bad shape....though she can tell some differences from when she had last seen his arm. Which she gets rather curious over, so the inspection may take a little longer than anticipated as she ogles the differences.]

It doesn't seem too bad, considering...though it seems a little different too.
