Oh now and I suppose you're quite pleased with yourself, aren't you?

[ Not amused right now. ]

I've no time for this nonsense and neither do you. So let me be, then. Go on. Shoo.

Washington is not my ally. Not now.

[This is one of those instances where Connor will freely admit Haytham was right. He was right, but at the same time it was a knife to the back, given how long Haytham had sat on his information to drop it on Connor at the time he thought he could gain most from it.

He lifts his chin defiantly, giving Haytham a hard stare. He's used to being patronised by now, and getting irritated over it is just giving his father the reaction he wants.]

They have their system, even if their motives and actions can be impossible to predict. They decide who or what is allowed to be "saved". Humans are free to govern themselves, but are still ultimately answerable to the influence of the dragons. They are the real keepers of order.

[Or jailors, as Connor sees them. Whether their intentions are good or bad, that doesn't change it.]

So where does that leave you and your vision for your so-called perfect world? The dragons have already created what they believe to be theirs. There is no room for your cause as well.

You talk as though the revolution in the colonies was somehow all my doing. If there is an uprising in the Havens, it will take more than just a single man to incite it, just the same.

[And Connor is no leader, not in that sense. That isn't how the Assassins work.

He watches Haytham pace away, and, surprisingly, what Haytham says next is what Connor wants to hear. He doesn't want to change any other world? Then there's no reason for them to fight. Their ideals might still be split, but it holds less importance in a place where Haytham is disinterested in implementing his.]

Perhaps you misunderstand my intentions. All I want is to find a way to return home to my people, and if they so wish it, ensure others are returned home to theirs. If the dragons truly are peaceful, there does not have to be any conflict.

The revolution has been all the doing of the people. If I have aided them, it is only in small ways. [He's far too humble to play up his actions, even if he recognises his necessary part in them. And it's part of why he's so frustrated to be taken from his home before his work could be finished.] I have asked, and was told it was not possible. And yet sometimes they return people as they choose, so there must be a way.

[Dragon thinking. It completely baffles.]

And if they will not return me, I will find my own way, without their help. [He is needed at home, so simple Connor logic dictates that this has to be done, mythical beasts or no. He will find a way.]
