Regarding his Mun's stupid sleeping habits

And you call me a night owl? You do realize that I have a moderately normal sleep schedule, yea? At least I have more sense than to stay up till 5am, wake up at 6pm, and then go on to stay up the entire night so you can go to sleep later tonight at a decent time so you can survive through school.

[He crosses his arms, a frown curving the corner of his mouth down. After a moment he shakes his head lightly.]

You worry me sometimes, child; you know that, right? You can't even bother to check the time so you can get to sleep. You have problems remembering to eat for Din's sake! AND it's gotten worse over the past few years! Is school really that much of a personality vampire to you? If I wanted to wager a bet on your life, I'd say you'd starve out of pure forgetfulness.

[Cue sigh and bridge-of-the-nose pinch.]

Take care of yourself for once, you stupid ninny. I don't want to have to be the one to tell Britt that you keeled over because you're completely negligent to your own health, alright? [Pauses to chew at his bottom lip, though it seems more out of irritation than worry.]

And for the love of fuck, do your damn homework when you're in your right mind to. Last thing you need is your teachers and grandmother nipping at your heels while you're like this.

Seems that way. And I've had to deal with it for nigh eight years or so. I'm surprised that she actually took my advice and laid down for a nap this time, however. Now it's just a matter of seeing if she can fix her schedule for school.

[Have a pause at being called 'Fairy Boy', punctuated only by the odd look on his face.] I'm thinkin' you might have me confused with someone else; I've never been in ownership of a fairy before...

You haven't?

[She stares at him for a couple of moments before tilting her head to the side. Well, he does look different, but the similarities can't be denied either.]

You got a brother or something? Because you look a lot like someone I've met before, just darker and edgier.

[He starts to shake his head before her words actually filter through his mind a little more clearly. A low chuckle comes from him as a smirk curves the corner of his mouth up.] Ah, now I know who you're talking about. No brother of mine though, not in the sense you're thinking of.

[What's with that smirk? She's... really not sure she likes that smirk. Where's her pitchfork when she needs it?]

How do you know him, then?

[He has good intentions, really. Even if everything he does has an air of 'bad touch' to it. Seeming to realize Malon's discomfort with the sudden expression change (though it was more likely the humor of the subject was immediately lost from him) he let that slightly toothy smirk die down into a much more calm look.]

I guess you could short of figure him and I related. Not in the 'blood-related brother' sense, but being one's shadow has to count in some ways, right? [And upon speaking those words, his spine stiffens ever-so-slightly, though not in a noticeable manner. He's learned over the past couple years that telling people he isn't exactly human tends to have negative reaction pinned to it, but bracing for said fallout helps just a tad.]

[At that, she glances down at the ground to take a look at the shadow he's casting - if he's even casting one at all. If this is Link's shadow and he's here talking to her, then shouldn't his shadow be Link?

...after a moment she realizes how silly that was and looks back up, trying to act like she hadn't just done that.]

You don't look like a shadow, you look like a person...

[And that unsettling smirk is back because he had noticed her glance down to where his shadow was supposed to be... and was, for the moment. If only to keep his appearance to others as mortal as he could. Walking around blatantly without a shadow? That'd be a bit out of sorts, don'cha think?]

That's because if I walked around looking like a shadow, people who see me would start to panic. Nobody likes a panicked crowd, especially not me... well, when I don't deliberately mean to cause the panic, that is.

[Snarky, mischievous brat.]

You're not very nice. [And she doesn't approve.] Your Mun might react better if you tried being polite.

[He snorts at that before the corner of his mouth curves into a frown.] You'd be surprised how bad I can get. This isn't my worst; this is me actually being concerned for her stupid head. [He pauses for the beat of a second before shrugging.]

And she's put up with more over the past seven or so years, I think me being a bit irritable at her ruining her health can be forgiven...

[She still doesn't like it, but... It's up to his Mun, not her.]

If you're really worried about her, don't insult her. Just be a friend.

[Take it from me, he's usually worse.]

I can be far more biting with true insults. This is friendly, considering it's me. And considering I've been at this for the past seven or so years, she can tell pretty well when I mean what I say.

You must be close! [Trying to brighten the atmosphere!] What's your name?

"Close" is something you can call it. When her little eleven-year-old self wrapped around my leg I knew that I was in for the long run. [Despite the eyeroll he gives while saying that, a smile has curved his mouth up.] My name? Mun has flip-flopped between multiple things, but it always either ends up back at Dark -- something she has found rather unoriginal as of late -- or Dante, her excuse to make my name more "unique".

Shall I call you Dark Dante? [She holds back a giggle. Barely.] With a name like that, I wouldn't even expect to see you smile.

[He gives a quick, jerky shake of his head, hair falling out of place because of it.]

I'd, ah, rather one or the other. Seems weird to use both, y'know? [He grimaces slightly, lifting a hand to rub the back of his neck.] Then again, it is better than when my Mun was a tad too lazy to use my entire name, so she just used "DL" to label me. It was the worst.

...D...L? What does the L stand for? [Zelda leans in, examining his features.] You do look familiar...like I should know you.

[He doesn't really notice her examining him like that since he's rubbing his face with both hands, groaning slightly. And if you listen hard enough, you can hear the Mun grimacing and clicking her tongue at her younger self.] Aye, it was supposed to be an abbreviation of my original name, Dark Link; I can see why she wouldn't want to type that out every single time, but still...

Dark...Link? [She blinks and stares.] Are you...Link? A different version of him?

I...

Does that happen a lot around here?

[And that small frown of his is back.] I guess you could consider me a different "version," yeah... [He pauses for a moment to scratch at his ear, shrugging slightly.] Happens more than you wish it did, honestly. Don't be surprised if you start to see double.

Do you know a Zelda in your world? [Come on, she has to ask.]

[He tilts his head to the side slightly, the look on his face rather concentrated. After a moment he lets out the breath he didn't realize he'd been holding and rights his head, rubbing his chin slightly.] I can't say I have, personally, but I know that my Link has.

[harpofhylia]

[She mimics him, smiling broadly and warmly.] Your Link? [A confused pause where she tries to figure out how many Links a Link could know.] I didn't think Link was a common name...?

[He nods at that.] Aye, mine. I have a feeling that your Link and mine are different; and it isn't common. There was only one where I came from.

[harpofhylia]

How would they be different? [All of this time warping/bending/whatever you want to call it is making her head hurt.] I only know one Link.

[He huffs out a breath and tries not to fidget. Honestly, he'd been dwelling on the same thing recently. How would they be different?] And until rather recently, I only knew mine. But then I started to meet others and, well... I do have to say that the entire thing started to give me a headache after awhile. Especially since the ones I know are usually called Link, save for one who I like to jab at with his title.

[Pause.]

In a completely non-malicious manner, of course.
