Where is the rest of Team Kurenai?

Dear Player-san,

I'm a little confused here. And very overwhelmed.

This place is filled with contradictions. There are four Naruto-kuns here: A seal-master that is engaged to a female Sasuke-kun [blush], an adorable seven year-old who is friends with just the ANBU assigned to watch over him, a female who frightens me just a bit [taps fingertips together nervously], and the newest Frog Sage who just so happens to have lived through his battle with the terrible Pain. [huge blush] Not to mention the various incarnations of Uchiha Sasuke-kun and Uchiha Itachi-san. [Nervous sigh]

There are few things here that make sense, but I find that I am most grateful for the presence of my beloved older cousin, Hyuuga Neji-nii-san, even if our timelines don't quite match.

However, I find that I miss my teammates, Aburame Shino-kun and Inuzuka Kiba-kun. And of course Akamaru-san as well.

Hinata... the feeling is mutual.

[She really has no idea. Finally, someone who isn't... Naruto. Or that orange-haired cat fellow.]

Shino-kun! [relieved sigh] The weather here is strange. It seems as if it is a strange mixture of genjutsu and perverting of natural weather patterns. The sky was red for three days during the daylight hours.

[Finally, a break from someone who isn't an Uchiha.]

Kakashi-sensei seems to have found his way here as well. And Ino-san is here too.

A genjutsu on such a large scale? [His eyebrows shoot up, but other than that he gives no indication of his concerns.] And you cannot locate the source with your byakugan?

It seems there are quite a few shinobi from our village there. I apologise that the rest of Team Kurenai is not present.

Yes, neither Neji-nii-san nor I can find the source of the genjutsu. [She gives a frustrated frown before smiling a little.] The villagers of Michi no Sato seem to be pleased that the shinobi are here, but they are unwilling to explain some of the things occurring around here.

Also, you might like to know that there is an Orochimaru-sama here from before the Third Shinobi War and a few members of the Akatsuki have put in appearances as well, but they have yet to attack anyone. It is a little confusing for everyone involved.

[Hums in thought. But it could very well be mistaken for the ever constant hum of the kikaichu under his skin. It wouldn't be unheard of for Madara or Obito or Itachi or any of them to be able to pull something like that off. Furthermore, the matter of the Akatsuki and Orochimaru's alignment up in the air...]

What of... Uchiha Sasuke? You mentioned there were multiple versions of him. [Him... her?]

[Sighs heavily.] Yes, there are multiple versions of Uchiha Sasuke. One as we last saw him, two female, one older male and one male child of around eight. He says that he remembers me as a child at the academy. He really was a sweet child before... Well...

[Looks down at her hands.] Neji-nii-san and the others have ruled out a plot by one of the other shinobi and missing nin. They seem just as trapped as we are. Supposedly, there is also a Jiraiya-sama running around, but I have yet to confirm that. It seems to be possible to be trapped outside of the village by the genjutsu for periods of time, though it is less than pleasant.

The most pleasant surprise seems to be the fact that not only is Uzumaki Kushina-san in residence, but also Uchiha Fugaku-san and Uchiha Mikoto-san. There are also rumors that Sarutobi Asuma-sensei has arrived to Michi no Sato.

[Listening intently. He's slightly (extremely) miffed that he's been left out this "Michi no Sato", as well as being unable to return to assist in the ongoing war. It's frustrating that he can't be there for his team mate, and y'know, the rest of the shinobi world.]

[Woah, what was that about the deceased?] Hinata... it is not my place to tell you what to do, but I advise staying at your cousin's side. [Because.]

[Wishes that Shino-kun was there as well. She's tired of trying to make sense of the senseless. Especially when she could be on the front lines, making sure that her cousin's death wasn't wasted and that Naruto-kun was safe.]

[Blushes at his concern.] I have yet to let Neji-nii-san very far from my side. It is both pleasant and painful, Shino-kun.

[The most they can do is endure and place trust in their comrades.]

Ah. [Shifts slightly. So his suspicions are confirmed...]

[Gives him a tight smile.] Shino-kun, I would be very pleased if you returned with me. There are not enough... [Blushes at rude thought but goes forward anyway.] There are not enough of us here who are not Uchihas or Uzumakis. Perhaps together we would be able to find Kiba-kun and Akamaru.

[He opens his mouth to mention Neji-- but thankfully(?) the opportunity passes before he can.]

I will have a talk with my mundane about it. [He will. If it's the last thing he does.] ... She does not seem to have much faith in my voice to commit so easily.

[Nods in affirmation. He doesn't find it rude at all. ~~At least someone appreciates his presence.~~] We specialise as a reconnaissance team, after all.

[As much as she loves her older cousin, he is not her teammate.]

Please tell your player-san that mine is extremely taken with you. As I am not her strongest voice either, she was very happy to meet you, Shino-kun.

Yes. [Bows deeply with a slight blush on face.] That we do.

Mine asks me to return the sentiment. It's quite odd, however. Since her main voice is usually... [studying her expression] you.

[Pushes his shades up to rest higher on the bridge of his nose. He's gonna say it...] It would not suffice to have certain crucial members absent. [Akamaru and Dogbreath. Uh- Kiba.]

[He's prepared to remind his mun as frequently as necessary. Never too forceful. Shino is the master of subtle. The link appearing under her keyboard, or in the form of pop-ups when browsing, or spelt out in his kikaichu kind of subtle.]

[Hides her giggle under a hand quickly.] My player-san's main voice is Kakashi-sensei. But rest assured that I am searching diligently for Kiba-kun and Akamaru with my Byakugan at every available moment.

[She wishes you luck. Another Naruto has arrived.]

[Not... assured...] There is no need to overexert yourself. Why? [A pause. He can't assist with his own kikaichu. Dang.]

Between those two's noses, it should not be too difficult to locate you first.

[Ah. It's that Naruto. The one who left him hanging for eleven days. Hm.]

[She gives him a soft smile, recognizing his worry.] I promise that I am not doing so. Thank you for continuing to take care of me. [Gives a deep bow in gratitude.]

[Blinks and thinks over his statement.] My player-san is tempted to tell me to punch you for saying I smell. However, since we are taking about Kiba-kun and Akamaru-san, I fear you are correct.

[Eleven days with no tags? How rude!]

[... That seems to placate him somewhat. He knows she doesn't go back on her word.] There is no need for thanks. Because that is what comrades do.

That... [Pause. One might even call it an awkward pause - if he even would acknowledge it as one.] was unintentional.

[Of course, the mun had a perfectly acceptable reason. Shino is just adamant it must be Naruto's fault.]

[Pauses. Considers his words.] I...suppose you are right, but it is only fitting for me to be thankful to have someone willing to watch over me, yes?

[Stifles another giggle.] That is alright, Shino-kun. I know you didn't mean it quite like that.

[Straightens up a bit, irked by the slight against Naruto-kun for a moment. That Naruto's mun hasn't replied to anything sent since their first post on the community. It might just be that they're slow.]

[There's a small nod of acknowledgment. She's right, but he doesn't know what to do with her gratitude. His concern is only natural.]

... Nevertheless, if you'd like... you may still punch me. [A j-joke? With a straight face, too. Only person that this would be okay. No chance in hell would he let Kiba get a hit in.]

[Shino's mun understands. Shino does not. :| Apologies, Hinata. As much as he respects Naruto... he feels slighted that it took so long to recognise him. Again.]

[Blinks.] Um...I...I must politely decline...your generous offer. [Eyes him a bit, a look of worry on her face.]

How have you been otherwise? We have been doing nothing but talking about...me. [Taps fingers a bit.] I would like to know if Shino-kun has found anything interesting.

[Hinata's player-san completely understands. Hinata is sorry that it took Naruto-kun so long to recognize Shino-kun, but she....Well, you know.]

... If you insist. [Not going to try that ever again...]

My mundane has expressed interest in a place - it involves battling between various creatures called "Pokemon". [He darkens. There's a scowl hidden from behind his collar.] I would be stripped of my ability to use chakra, and my kikaichu.

[Anyone would have had to be blind or Naruto, not to have noticed. It is for her benefit that Shino does not voice his annoyances with the guy out loud. Only in brackets.]

[Nods, still a bit worried.]

My player-san has been asked a few times if she was interested in bringing me or another of her voices over there, but she seems reluctant to let us lose our abilities. [Feels sorry for her teammate. She'd rather have him with her, to be honest.] She also has said something about not going back to the Pokemon addiction. Whatever that is.

[She agrees. Shino-kun is very distinct, even from the rest of the Aburame clan. She is appreciative that he is holding back his comments about Naruto-kun.] Oh, and Naruto-kun and Neji-nii-san have expressed an interest in having Shino-kun over in Michi no Sato.

Understandable. Why? As shinobi, we have honed our skills over time. Your exceptional sight and fighting style is a part of you, much as my insects are to me. [He's silent for a moment. Hopefully that will sink in. Are you listening, mun?] ... I believe these Pokemon are based on some kind of game. [One he does not wish to play.]

[Nods slowly.] I do understand your reluctance to leave behind something that has been a part of you since you can remember. [She hopes that your player-san is listening to you about your desires.] Ah, that makes sense now.

Yes, the others have mentioned you while I was searching for other members of my team. Evidently, Kiba-kun and Akamaru-san were here briefly, but they disappeared shortly before I arrived.

I am informed that there are bug pokemon inhabiting that place. It will not be the same, however. [The relationship between himself and the kikaichu is a symbiotic one. While this would be based on LOVE and FRIENDSHIP.]

[He doubts someone like Kiba would disappear so abruptly without warning.] These things are unpredictable, I assume.

That might be a slight concession to what you are used to, Shino-kun. I hope that you do well if your player-san does take you there. [Isn't that what their teamwork is based on? She's confused.]

The female Naruto disappeared without warning as well. It seems to happen at random.

Of course. I will learn to adapt. [It is, it is. Which is why he has problems with the idea of sending Hinata or Kiba or any other companion to fight his battles for him. Not to say that it isn't distressing to lose members of his hive...]

... All the more reason to enjoy their company while they are there. [He did suggest for her to stay by her cousin...]

You are the most adaptable of our team, Shino-kun. I trust that you will experience no problems. [Gives him a sad smile. She understands about that. She always wondered how Kiba-kun could stand to send out Akamaru-san.]

I am trying. [Blushes as she recalls what has occurred lately. She has no problem staying close to those who are important to her, her cousin included.]

[An acknowledging nod. If that is his place on their ragtag team, Hinata is the most stubbornly determined. He has no doubts she will try, and try some more.]

I will never understand the custom of your ninja to operate in teams of three. Not even the Shirai-Ryu did that. Single operatives are much more flexible and pose fewer risks to the clan.

[Blushes and startles.] Oh, excuse me, shiranaihito-san. [Attempts to control her racing heart and flaming cheeks.] We are...we are taught at the academy that the genin and chunin move in teams of three to learn from one another. Each team member has their own strengths and weaknesses.

[Speaks in a much quieter voice.] Jounin do get sent out on solo missions however.

[Kuai arches an eyebrow at the girl's reaction. In his world, she wouldn't have lasted a minute as a ninja. He crosses his arms before addressing her again.]

I would never allow a Lin-Kuei to leave the temple until they could prove their skill to me. There are too many variables at stake to risk sending initiates and children out on missions...

[There's a pause as he sizes her up.] What's your name, girl?

[Can feel the cold stare throughout her body. Her heartbeat levels out and she wills her cheeks to go back to normal.] We handle the low level missions that would only be nuisances for the jounin. Each team has a leader to make sure that there is no real danger to the team. This allows us to get real world experience with minimal danger. You may think of it as extra, specialized training.

[Decides that she's not really going to get any politeness from him, but will continue to be so. Gives a bow, all the while keeping her eyes closely on him.] My name is Hyuuga Hinata, of Konohagakure, in the Fire Country, shiranaihito-san.

[For Kuai, though, this is being polite.]

No mission is without danger. If a mission is important enough to warrant the clan's intervention, blood will be shed. The Lin-Kuei need no 'extra' training. They fight for their lives every day, and are stronger for it.

[He nods slightly.]

You may call me Sub-Zero. Grandmaster of the Lin-Kuei Assassins.

[Nods in acknowledgement of his statement.] Missions have varying degrees of difficulty in Kohona. Recently graduated shinobi generally receive the least difficult, while Rank S missions go to the most skilled and disciplined of jounin. [Blushes a bit.] Every day that is not spent completing missions is spent in training and other activities that assist the clan.

[She gives him another bow, not quite so low this time, as thanks for a name to call him by.] Thank you for speaking with me, Sub-Zero-sama.

[He stays silent for a moment. She calls herself a ninja, and the only ninja he had ever encountered were hardened and bloodied killers. She acts far too timid for that, making him even more curious. Surely if she was a ninja, she would have some skill right?]

Hm... In the Lin-Kuei temple, we believe that the best way to truly communicate is with your fists. Would you indulge me in a sparring session?

[She eyes him, feeling out his chakra as her Byakugan is activated. She is surprised to see that he is like one huge cold spot of evil intent. Stands up straight and lets her muscles relax before bowing yet again.]

If you wish, then yes.

[She's as ready as she's going to get.]

Sounds... like a lot to deal with.

[Seriously, she would have facepalm'd so hard if that ever happened where she's at.]

But anyway, if you're looking for your teammates, Hinata, Kiba's with us in this place. You were there too, actually - dated Naurto even - and Shino and Kurenai-sensei once.

Ino-san! [Gives you a polite bow.] It is nice to see you here. Even if I am not really sure where here is.

[She's already fainted a few times. Poor Neji and Naruto-kun had to deal with that. Not pretty.]

I believe I failed to mention that there is an Ino-san here, and Sarutobi Asuma-sensei has arrived as well. I was told that there was a Kiba-kun here, once, but he disappeared, as did the female Naruto-kun. [Sighs. More Uchihas arrive everyday, but she's not complaining about the fact that there are still four Naruto-kuns and one very interested Uzumaki Kushina.]

I'm surprised you haven't had a heart attack yet with how... weird that place can get judging from your story.

[Because a female Naruto? Seriously??]

Oh, really? Sensei? He was actually with us briefly before when Kurenai-sensei was still with us. [Her voice comes off neutral, effectively masking the nostalgia she felt with that little reunion.]

This village is confusing, truly, but there are good parts too. [Blushes as she remembers some of the things that have happened.] I suppose it could be worse.

[That's not even the worse part. Two female Sasuke-kuns. A female Itachi-san. And a male Sakura-san, to name a few.]

Yes, Asuma-sensei and Kakashi-sensei seem to be the only teachers here. And there is at least one version of Tsunade-sama, Jiraiya-sama, and Orochimaru-sama as well... Might I go home now?
