It's already hard to believe we're here, we can go to games, and we're in people's heads. Try to understand, this is just... an extension of that weirdness. It's a little bit like being in a dream.

[She thinks about that. Thinking of all this as some sort of a "strange dream" might make it easier to understand, though given some of the places her mun has been looking at, she's more inclined to think of it as a nightmare.]

Oh, sorry I didn't introduce myself. [He takes his hat off and inclines his head to her; some Southern habits just didn't die no matter where he went.] My name is Jaeris. I've only been here a week, but I was over at Live Journal, which is basically identical, for about two months. Both of them function the same way, and I admit it's more than a bit hard to get used to, but I'll try and explain what I can. 'S the least I can do after other people explained it all to me.

It's very nice to meet you, Jaeris-san! [And she bows, her hands clasped in front of her - old habits die hard.] "Live Journal"... I think I've heard of that one. The person who sent me here seems to prefer this place, though.

Nice to meet you too, Miss Kanzaki. Don't think too much of me explaining things. It's just passing on what other people did for me. If you ask me, that's how things should work.

[She smiles again - Jaeris may not think it's much, but the way he thinks it's normal to do pass on nice things to others because others were nice to you is a bit of a relief to her. She knows too many people already who keep information to themselves just to make sure they have some sort of an advantage.]

I've seen people talk about "games" and I've seen people talk about "memes". Is there one or another that's easier to get involved in?

Well, memes are easier in the sense that it doesn't take an application or a lot of time to jump into one, talk to someone or just get things rollin'. But the problem is you have no promise people will be willing to play with you, finish the meme or give you much of a chance if you're an obscure character or from an obscure canon.

The other side of the coin is that games can be hard to get into. My kind of canon in particular - anything that falls under 'web originals' - have a real hard time finding a game. And a lot of those can get nightmarish. Memes, you at least have a say in what you want or don't want to happen.

They're about equal, just beneficial and hard in different ways. I guess it depends on what you're looking for, Miss Kanzaki.

[That makes sense. She thinks maybe memes would be easier for her to enjoy - her mun, apparently, has other ideas. Nao really wishes she could somehow stop getting involved with things that torment her psychologically. Sigh.]

It's too bad that it's hard for "web original" people to start somewhere. I think it's a little strange... just because they're not in a book or being broadcast on television is no reason to exclude them. You seem very nice, Jaeris-san. I hope you can find somewhere you want to be.

It's been frustrating, but I've found a few places I can at least apply. Recent canon events haven't been too kind to me, so I could use the break. Hopefully you'll find a nice place to settle in for a bit, too. You could always apply at

Oh, that looks like a very interesting place! And it's not as frightening as the other places my mundane-san is looking at, I like that...

It's not all sunshine and rainbows, but it's a lot gentler on it's inhabitants than some places around here are. Personally, only have one issue with it. Which is a plethora less than I usually have.

Nothing in life is "all sunshine and rainbows," I think. But this seems closer than most.

I know it sounds strange, but people do need to be saved from this one. The people who run the game are... sometimes unkind, and they will do anything to get what they are felt the loser "owe" them.

I do have friends there. And you can always try to make new ones, wherever you are, even if it's in a bad situation.

[At that, Nao manages a small smile and a nod. She's managed to make good friends and meet some truly good people in the Liar Game - surely it would be possible for people to do that in these other games as well.]

That's true. And when you have people with you that you can trust, many more things become possible!
