[scolding ~~motherly~~ frown goes here] You have enough to worry about, such as making sure you have a home to settle in once you move back to your homestate. Then there's the move itself!

[Relax, X, it'll be a while yet!] And then what happens after that? You get another job, you'll get worn out, and you have another group you play with on another site! If you're going to send me somewhere, you'll at least have to make sure I'll stay a while and remain active.

If you're going to do it, do it after considering all the options first. You might also need to canon review just to be sure.

Why do you care so much?

Why wouldn't I care? [Because in his experience, trying not to care doesn't stop bad things from happening, and oftentimes makes them worse.]

About the mundane, I mean. [she tilts her head at him, her expression unchanging and unreadable.] Because you're its prisoner. Don't you have things you'd rather be doing than being played with like a toy?

[He pauses in thought. Yes, there was, but at the same time, the peace he's gotten from being in his mun's headspace was also what he's wanted.]

I don't think of myself as a prisoner. To be honest, part of me wants to be here. It can get chaotic in this headspace because of the others, but I prefer that to some bloody war.

Ah. So you get to escape from your trouble. How nice for you.

Sometimes, they refuse to listen to reason. I have yet to quite comprehend it, myself; when the situation is presented, it's as if they simply look the other way and ignore any and all warnings.

Hopefully, the situation does not progress in this manner in your case, especially seeing the nature of such warnings.

It's just that my mun tends to bite off more than she can chew, and I don't like seeing her spread herself so thin. It only creates problems, aside from exhausting her.

Chillax. My mun dropped me in over there late last month and things don't seem all that hard to keep up with. Besides, if your mun's anything like mine, she won't listen anyway. Might as well roll with it and see it all goes.

[X manages not to wince at the assumption. He wasn't built for anything specific like combat, but he knew how anyone could come to that conclusion.]

...Yes ... and no. I'm a robot, but I have my own free will and can therefore think, and feel like a human. My creator built me capable of making war, but he also built me to be capable of many other things. He hoped I would be able to live out a peaceful life, but in case I couldn't he made sure I could defend myself and protect others.

Ah, I gotcha. It was the cool looking armor that made me think you might be geared toward battle situations. That you're that versatile, though... That's pretty awesome.

[X blushes a little and grins. He doesn't often get compliments like that.]

[Lucky you, X... Rex is the social sort. And he sure doesn't mind the chance to talk about himself.]

It's kind of complicated, but the short version is that I chase down people, animals and plants that have been mutated into EVOs by the global nanite plague. The organization I used to work for, Providence, had a "cure, contain or kill" protocol depending on the situation and type of EVO involved. ...I'm the "cure" part.

[X listens attentively, mildly surprised that what Rex does sounds an awful lot like what he does, only it doesn't involve organic mutation.]

I see. It's similar to what I do: I hunt down and ... "retire" rogue Reploids--robots like myself, replicated from my design--that we call Mavericks. It's usually because of a specific Virus that's slowly but surely dissipating, and sometimes it's by choice. My kind face a lot of prejudice from humans, and sometimes reploids will just snap and start going wild.

[His face is a little saddened at that fact, since he's had to kill quite a few reploids to keep so many more innocents safe.]

[The kid's eyebrows arch a little.]

...you might be mi hermano in metal. I've had to kill some incurable EVOs for being too big and/or violent to contain. Plus I hear you on prejudice... Not all EVOs are bad news. Some just wanna live their lives in peace, but some people see us as a cancer threatening humanity. Laws protecting humans don't apply to EVOs, either, no matter how human we look or act.

...I agree, what we both do is startingly similar. I'm sorry such suffering pervades in your world, and I hope that whatever happens it's for the best.

She's not that irresponsible, but yes, she does jump into a lot of things headfirst without much thought at all.

Which is perfect, because so far this has been the vacation of a lifetime! No war, hardly any laws, and monsters to fight.

[X is only a little startled at the tall talking robot. He reminds X of the mechaniloids back home, only those mechaniloids only have just enough of an A.I. and certainly don't speak! X has never seen or talked to a Transformer, though he's heard of them from his mun.]

Well, it's nice that there isn't any war going on, but hardly any laws? I'm not so sure about a lawless land, a lot of things can go wrong in places like that. [Silly, X, thinking of somewhere densely populated rather than merely a frontier and wild land.]

Lots of things can go wrong with laws, too.

But, hey, if laws are your cube-of-choice, then there's a small committee in the process of making some. Useful ones, you know.

Like 'try not to kill anyone.'

Of course, there are some people we're still waiting to see follow that law, but...
