On my, um, preferences while game-searching

Dear Autor,

You are not allowed to seek out Herr Rogers - pardon me, 'Captain America' (these alternate universes will never cease to be confusing to me) so you can plop me in a game alongside him. Firstly, he's not even the same man as the one I fought back home. Secondly, it is an unreasonable stretch to try to find both a place that takes AUs and one that has him present. You are making this search unreasonably, fruitlessly hard. I have been blessed to so far avoid him on here; that's something I would like to maintain as long as humanly possible.

On another note, yes, I understand you are nervous about applications. But if you don't fill something out eventually, we are going to be sitting here for a long time. There has to be a point where you just dive in. This waiting period is trying my patience even without the Herr Rogers issue clouding it. Kindly apply me somewhere before the month is out. Yes, I'm just as annoyed as you are that LJ didn't work out. That doesn't mean you should wander about forever.

Danke,

Johann Schmidt

It certainly seems that way.

Oh, I have no doubt. They seem to LOVE doing that sort of thing to the likes of us. [She smiles.] Well, in that case... if you have to end up SOMEplace, Thurisaz isn’t a bad place to end up. As long as you don’t mind the whole being a suitor for the prince thing.

And no Herr Rogers. For the time being, at least

It’s... not exactly romance, if that makes you feel any better. Unless you get to wooing someone else while you’re stuck there. They mostly leave us alone; I guess some have actually met the man we’re all supposed to be suitors to, but I’m not one of them. So technically yes, it is, but realistically, not so much. They don’t seem to give a damn at all what we get up do. As long as we don’t bring on the Apocalypse. Or blow anything up.

There’s the occasion shitstorm, of course; we just had a tear in the fabric of space and time send countless creatures rampaging through the streets, but things like that will happen wherever you end up, I suspect.

Well, when you’ve been stuck in a Carnival from hell run by... someone –something? I’m not entirely sure, wherein you’ve been mauled by their rather twisted Reflections, trapped in the Dark Place with no way out and having been inevitably changed by it, and trapped in Lovecraft’s favourite university, complete with tentacles and assorted sundry of other horrible monsters... being in a twisted version of The Bachelor with things occasionally going to hell isn’t the worst of the lot.

... And my life has been incredibly strange, when put like that. [She grins.] None taken. I wouldn’t want me in charge of troop morale, either. The problem is that I have a very skewed barometer when it comes to things. Shit happens, you have to adapt.
