attempts at reviving an old muse
It has been some time, hasn't it?
To be honest, I was beginning to think my last prediction was wrong, and that we truly had seen the last of each other. I should have waited another year or two before making such assumptions. But really, are you sure you're up to the task? It's been awfully long since we've had each other for company, and I balk to think of what strange notions you've undoubtedly retained about me.
Regardless, I must admit I admire your strange dedication to this idea. Perhaps we could give it another shot. They say the third time's the charm.
So, mundane. What will you have of me?

I could say the same of you, Your Majesty.

[At least he has the decency to not look too openly displeased—or, dare we say it, embarrassed—by the thought.]
In that vein of thought, I do hope you yourself have been well.

[And that's all he intends to pry into that. The often-complicated nature of Lelouch's relationships is hardly his business unless Lelouch himself makes it so.]
no subject
Well, yes. And largely to myself. You know how these things go.

[His guess would be the latter, if either. Not that it matters, because the look on Lelouch's face is troubling enough.]

[He pauses, then laughs a little.]
It's funny how similar all this sounds to rekindling an old romance.
ugh gosh I missed these two
busy and sick these days, hahah. you?
I feel you a little there, man.
it really is, ugh.

[He hesitates to continue, but ultimately decides to ask.]
Given the choice, would you also want something akin to that?

[GOSH JEREMIAH, I WONDER WHY.]

Failing to see the difference between that and the simple qualities of a gentleman could be the cause. Class is just wasted on some people.

Y'know, like childhood experiences with trauma and war took some of the prince out of Lelouch.]
See? It's not nearly so ridiculous. [Jeremiah huffs a little.] Although I will say the age jokes have largely ceased.
no subject
Oh Lelouch, you didn't...]
Yes, well- I mean, it becomes less funny as fewer and fewer years stand between us.
[Sorry, man, he's a little stuck on the last thing that got said.]

To be fair, the changes of a few years as an adult aren't really so noticeable. I don't see any reason not to consider yourself as such, regardless as to whether we actually age or not.

[His smile is small, but reassuring.]
Have you been well?

[She tries to move on]
Yes. What about you?

I'm quite fine, considering my long absence.

You sound wise beyond your years yet again.
