Even ... conventional wisdom would say that if you cannot make the situation change to you, you must adapt to face the situation. It is the way of survival.

Survival as a requisite for living only makes sense to me. It is, after all, hard to live when dead.

And as much as one can take 'living' to be enjoying life, there are times when survival is pressed upon us, and 'living' as you would then define it must either wait until the time for mere survival has passed, or must be found in the surviving.

If you're out to do something good doing something unpopular is fine.

That doesn't mean you will end up beloved though, in fact you might end up being hated.

Just keep in mind what that means in the end though. You may be sacrificing your chance at any life you wanted. Most of your homeland could want your head on a pike by the end of it all. Even if you do something good.

As long as you can be happy with what you have done, then do it.
