Dear Mundane,

I am tired of this. You think about putting me somewhere and then you do nothing about it forever. Either find me a game or forget about me. I am done being tossed around. Just because you have found a new World for me to play in doesn't make up for you waiting so long with the last one. Get the information you need. I will be waiting to hear back from you.

Don't take too long either.

P.S. Sakuya had better be there too or I will make you sorry.

...Normally people don't like me.

You don't make it all that easy.

[He's quiet for a moment, and clenches his fist.]

But no one should have to go through something like that again and again, with no end in sight. No one!

...T-Thank you.

...Does this mean we're friends?

[Noel visibly relaxes, and puts a hand to his forehead. He looks like he's thinking for a moment as his hand goes down to his chin. Then he takes the hand away and offers it to the little ~~fuzzball~~ cat, and he smiles again.]

If you want to be, sure.

[Hermit stares at the hand for a moment before moving over and shaking Noel's hand.]

I would like that.

[Noel shakes firmly, but doesn't squeeze very tight--hard to tell how much pressure that small body could take before it became pain.]

That settles it then.

[He lets go, and sits down, putting himself on a better level for the little guy to talk.]

Stop me if you don't want to talk about it, but what is The World like? I mean, how did it look, what were the people like?

It's a big place. It has all sort of places inside it too. Valleys, dungeons, massive cities. Everything you would ever want really.

The people? Some of them are nice. But others are mean. They'll kill over players just for fun. They don't care about anything else. Only their own greed and power.

Sounds pretty great.

[Noel nods.]

I guess they would think of it like that, since you're not supposed to feel any pain there. You said it was "virtual," but you got trapped there. Does that mean normally people have other lives to live outside The World?

Normal people do. They can come and go as they want. I couldn't.

...Did you? Before you got stuck there?

I did a little. The second version of it.

What was that like?

It was pretty. I didn't play much though. I got sick.

That's too bad.

[There's something darker hidden under that statement, if Hermit picks up on it.]

You got better though, right? Here you are, threatening your mun right along with the best of us.

[He grins.]

No, I didn't. I died. But I didn't know that for seven years.

One day I woke up in this body in the world with my twig. I didn't learn for a long time that my real self had died.

It couldn't have been all of you, or you wouldn't be talking to me right now.

Even if it's a different body, and you didn't end up where you belonged, you're still you. That's gotta count for something, right?

But I wasted seven years trying to find a donor to save my dead body. It was all pointless...everything was. And I finally only made one friend but it wasn't enough.

To have the future hanging over you without purpose...to know it will never end. Do you have any idea what that feels like?

[Noel keeps his flashbacks to himself.]

Even if I did, there's no way I could know how it is for you.

But the only thing you can do now is keep going. You got a second chance, even if it's kind of a weird one. You shouldn't waste it worrying about all the things that happened before, because you can still shape how your future will be from now on.

But I didn't want a future. I just wanted it all to end. How can I enjoy a second chance I didn't want?

Find something to do with it. You can't just give up.

There has to be something you wished you could do before, that you could strive towards.

Something I wished I could do before?

I would like to have friends...

[Oh does that hurt to hear.]

Making friends, yeah? Lucky for you, you're already on your way.

[Noel grins.]

...I am?

You said it earlier, right?

We're friends now, you and me.

You're right...we are.

[He smiles and is much happier now.]
