Oh, good. Good for Derek. I've been telling him this whole time to date people and he kept giving me that one sullen look that passes as an all purpose answer to everything I say to him. Good for Derek. Of course I support this. I just want what's best for him. Even if there's probably no way it'll work out because he's a cold-hearted pragmatist with no romance in his soul.

It's important that he tries, you know? And, okay, he'll fail, because let's face it, he can hardly keep a pack together, never mind form a meaningful emotional connection with another person. Or, just as a completely random example, any significant alliance which could threaten my position or well-being.

... What? Look, the instant you honestly don't like me doing this, I'll stop. Yeah, that's what I thought.

I'll be sure to shed plenty of tears at not getting it up the butt, but in the meantime let me front through it by pretending I'm happy someone else is taking care of the emotional needs of werewolves other than yours truly.

That's really touching, Stiles. Thank you. And I'm making note of your suggestion that beating the crap out of Jackson is a bonding activity. I agree, it sounds like something that could really bring the pack back together.

It could help, yes. There's that possibility, along with a lot of others. But like I said, I'm 100% supportive. It's not like this will be Kate all over again.

Seriously. Yes, the last woman he slept with turned out to be a total psycho who killed his entire family, but what're the odds that'll happen again?

Actually, I'm the only family he's got left, so technically, pretty good. But at least he won't be torn up about it.

Well, you're wrong, so back off. [He says that cheerfully, though.] Derek's got moves, you know, he just never uses them on account of being emotionally maimed. You should be nicer to him.

I don't know, because almost his entire family is dead and your girlfriend's aunt burned them alive and your girlfriend's grandfather tortured half his pack and beat up your best friend, and also he's saved your life and your friends' lives like five times? I know he's socially awkward, but c'mon, it's not like you and Stilinski are model members of society.

She's not my girlfriend anymore. We broke up. [ Thanks for that painful reminder. ] And he shouldn't have turned high school kids in the first place so the only people I feel sorry for are them, not him. [ He won't say anything about Stiles getting beat up because Scott blames himself for that, that has nothing to do with Derek. ]

It's not like I'm not grateful that he's saved my life more than once but you can't ask me to be nice to someone who lied to me about a cure and used me to hunt you down and kill you to make himself stronger.

Have you ever considered what would've happened if he hadn't done that? Or why he did it that way? Or why he does anything the weird, sullen, uncommunicative way he does it?

Well, never mind. If he's isolated and has no allies, then he's really just got me, and that could never turn out badly for you.
