on lack of hatters
So you've realized by now you probably won't be seeing me again. I assumed you would, perhaps a little more quickly than you actually managed, but then no one seems to pick up on the obvious as quickly as they should.
[ Bitter? Him? Never. ]
I don't suppose it matters to you at all that I'm content with the way things ended. I've been involved in enough family disputes for a lifetime. It's time I was left alone with mine. It's a shame about the girl crossing the line and God knows what the Queen will do now that she's here, bu it's not as though any of them care what happens to us. The hat's gone. I've no value left to any of them.
So long as I stay out of the way, the Queen will meet her end and I'll be allowed to live with my daughter in peace. All this will finally be over. So stop wishing for foolish things and let it be.
...
Don't be dull. Of course they'll win. That's what heroes do. If anyone could do it, it's...
Nevermind. I've said my piece. Don't trouble me with this again.

Yet circumstance didn't stop you before.
[It's been a while, huh Jefferson?]
...but I'm glad to hear you found your daughter.

I've read my share of stories, that's all.
And I know who usually ends up as collateral damage in them.
[ He has the grace to look a little subdued when she offers her sentiments, though. ]
...yeah. Your kid might have had a hand in that, actually.

When Henry's involved, I can't say I'm not surprised. But... you both were right.
Though I'm not sure if that's a good thing, considering how crappy things are turning out right now.
[She can barely handle herself in a world without magic.]

But you can't tell me that those we're up against are exactly...easy to deal with.
no subject
Trust me. I'd know.

[On the contrary- it seemed after one problem was solved, another bigger one would take its place.]

Keep Gold close.
no subject
[She's just going to give him a look at that.]
You know everything he does comes at a price. ..And I already owe him- I don't want to get in any deeper.
no subject
And I know you wouldn't let any price stand in your way if it meant protecting your son.
[ After all, he's aware he's done some terrible things to get Grace back. He knows that desperation. ]
no subject
..Well you are right about that. But that doesn't mean I trust him.
[Or ever will, really.]
no subject
Just keep the girl safe.
no subject
That shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I'm not sure what we're going to do with her after she's recovered completely- ..but we'll think of something.

What of the pirate?
no subject
Let's just say he's lucky he's still alive. And he's lucky Gold has other matters to attend to right now- otherwise I think we'd have a very dead pirate on our hands.

[She doesn't mention that she double-crossed him first but- details.]
no subject
I meant that he's alive.
no subject
[She wouldn't really wish death on anyone- ...but if anyone deserved it, it would be Hook.]
no subject
Maybe you'd have had more luck if you'd been behind the wheel.
no subject
[Oh look, you got a bit of a smile out of her.]
no subject
I never said that.
[ He's not protesting the fact, though. ]
no subject
Anyway- ..it looks like we're stuck with him for a while too. But I'd rather know where he is and have to keep an eye on him than have him wandering.
Last thing we need is that pirate making a mess of this town.
[As if it wasn't a mess already.]
