On Applications and Game Choices

I- I beg your pardon? No. ...No. Risking my hide for dwarves is one thing, madame, but sending me off to some land unknown to me where there are, what... what did it say in the fine print? monsters. Yes, those. Well that is another thing entirely! And I do not mean to sound rude, and my apologies if I do- but you are no wizard or- or some fussy dwarf king to tell me what to do!

There will be no more unexpected journeys, quests, adventures or anything of that ilk for this humble halfling, oh no. Quiet feet and a knack for going unnoticed may be a gift of my kind, but if there are packs- you... you did remember reading this, yes? PACKS of SEVERAL kinds of- of monsters!? But if there are those lurking in the dark, hobbit or no... I will be found and eaten. I may no longer be in the spring of my youth, if you'll follow me, but death... being eaten is not something I am up for.

So put it right out of your head! Argue all you like, about my having a sword- Balin himself said it was more of a... a letter opener anyway. I hardly know how to use it! Monsters, I'd wager, know how to use their teeth and claws and whatever it is they use to kill a halfling with!

Tookishness aside, and again I beg your pardon for sounding rude... but I am not partaking on this particular adventure.

Thank you.

Is something bothering you, Mister Baggins?

[personal profile] sonof_thrain 2013-01-17 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Thorin frowned. He had no time for irritable hobbits.]

Gandalf assured me that you are the best burglar for the job. I do hope you are not thinking of leaving us, Mister Baggins. For that will bode ill for us all and will weight heavy in my heart. I have faith in you, hobbit.

[He huffed gruffly then bristled.]

Gather your courage, Mister Baggins.

[Thorin crossed his arms as he listened to the babbling hobbit. He sighed gruffly.]

Is that so? I have no interest in the whims of your scribe, hobbit. I wish to gain back Erebor from the dragon and take my company north. Are you still with us, Mister Baggins? Or does your heart wish for different climbs?

You always have a choice. It us up to you, to choose with path you take. I do not wish to lose you, burglar. After what Gandalf promised with you.

Thorin thinks Bilbo need some discipline.... sorry XD

[personal profile] sonof_thrain 2013-01-17 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Then she is a fool. My scribe knows that all things will not bode well if he rips me from my quest. He cannot rip me away from Erebor. No one can.

[He narrowed his eyes on the hobbit. My, Bilbo....what a foul mood you are in.]

Not to my liking, burglar. I never mentioned anything of the sort. What do you seek? Perhaps, I can speak with your scribe and temper your foul mood also.

Re: A horror game in Thorin's book is a dinner date with Thranduil XD I wouldn't so evil though..hm.

Application? [He scoffed.]

How selfish indeed. Has she no idea of how important our quest is? She knows nothing. [He frown deeped as he face darkened.] It seems these scribes are foolish.

It pleases me to hear those words, burglar. Even through these times, you are still with us. [He clamped a strong hand on Bilbo's shoulder.]

Alas, such evil times from these scribes.

[personal profile] sonof_thrain 2013-01-24 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. You keep your word and stout heart and all should be fine. I will hold you to that, Master Baggins.

[personal profile] oldest_brother 2013-01-17 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, come now, Mister Boggins. Adventures are meant to be lived.

[personal profile] oldest_brother 2013-01-17 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, but uncle said you were the best burglar for the job. You won't get eaten, not with us. We'll protect you.

[personal profile] oldest_brother 2013-01-17 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, but you'd be surprised, Mister Baggins. Uncle Thorin does hold you in high regard, even though he is sometimes broody. [But broody was hot, right?]

Your lady writer sounds like she needs a kick up the jacksy if she thinks she cans steal you from us.

Breathing? You surely jest, burglar. Uncle is just a pillar or majesty. [Oh yes he is. The jacksy thing was from Ori...]

Borrowing? Sounds like stealing to me. Aren't you the burglar, not her?

[personal profile] oldest_brother 2013-01-17 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course, we are his nephews. He has brought me up since I was a wee lad. [No higher than Thorin's belt.]

You have a lady scribe, interesting. Mine is male, so perhaps they think differently.

[personal profile] unexpected_adventures 2013-01-17 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think these scribes understand us very well at all. We Baggins must stick together.

[personal profile] unexpected_adventures 2013-01-17 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed. Aren't we always right? [Well, most of the time.]

We hobbits are best at staying where we belong and making nice cups of tea. Also, homemade jam. [Where was the spirit of adventure, Bilbo?]

Although, my Took side sometimes gets the better of me......us. The yearning for adventure outside of Bag End. I have dreamt of it lately.

[personal profile] unexpected_adventures 2013-01-17 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Well....quite. [He nodded.]

People need to understand us a little better if think they can write us into any situation just to suit their whims. I won't have any of it. No sir!

[He huffed slightly.]

Already, I am panicking about travelling along with Thorin and company. Incineration.....certain death.....

....does it bother you also?

That icon looks familiar XD

[personal profile] unexpected_adventures 2013-01-17 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed. The rush may be nice but after it wears off. Then fear sets in.

Thorin will look after us, I have no doubts over that at all. He and his dwarves are a rowdy but friendly sort. I know they will keep me from danger anyway they can. [Even though Thorin could be like a bear with a sore head.]

Uncertainty is the bane of a hobbit's life at the moment.

Goodness, if Balin thought Sting was only as good as a letter opener (and a dwarf not that much larger in height than a hobbit), what must he think a proper weapon is? Something twice as big as a dwarf?
