Captain Deathstroke speaks his mind.
You are a fool.
To think for a moment you would have success at wielding me. A weapon in the hands of a fool is useless no matter how perfectly forged or maintained.
As I recall the last time our minds met it was disappointing. You remember those feelings of inadequacy. You are but a child trying to see the world through a mans eyes.
You have the power to force this issue. But you don't have the willpower. You never did and you never will.
Know that if you do in fact enroll me in this world of bloodsport and conspiracy I will not participate for you, but for me. And you might not like just what that means for all involved.
Go back to your Teen heroes and mindless monsters. Let the grown ups continue taking care of business.

Well I know I'm disappointed. Serious lack of the use of words like "yeargh," "scurvy dog," and - my personal favorite - "matey."

[He winces slightly at the use of his name like that.]
...How do you know that name?

Set one toe out of line, and you'll be answering to me and quite a few Leaguers, and multiple versions of each.

The odds are decidedly in my favor in this setting. For each of these beings, foolish and simple as they are in motivation, has basic human wants and desires.
And what do they want and desire most? Entertainment. Which is why they have us.
And what is the greatest entertainment to them? Taking someone they love, someone that they find entertaining, and placing them in situations that are difficult. Situations that are painful. The more heroic and morally pure a character is the more likely their writer will put them through the most painful hell.
I on the other hand? Am right at home there.
