You do raise a good point. Only there's also the so called plots that had the people turning into children, or another where they would turn into the opposite sex.

One of my old buddy's CO actually turned into Rita Hayworth-or atleast he resembled her as a woman.

It's less about taking over the world and more about having us feel like puppets.

The place is rigged so that anyone who once had super powers or was immortal in anyway would be turned human once they arrived.

If Kahn or Shang arrived on the Island, they would be instantly human and powerless

And I have no shame in saying that I will point and laugh at them if that's the case.
