It's because when you don't get something you want, it hurts more than how good it feels when you do. It's a way to keep us ambitious. We always want, want, want and every failure is more motivation to want more. So not getting what we want is remembered more.

[His scarf is unwound and tossed aside, but his hands are over his face. His hair is black, but with white markings that look like eyes.]

[And now he removes his hands, placing them on his hips apparently calm again but looking rather irritable. And staring with five eyes, two in the usual spot, two inside of those and one on his forehead.]

I was just saying you had nice legs.

[Kaia raises and eyebrow and stands with her hand on her hip.]

Well, if you are through with your little tantrum, then.

[She shakes her head before removing her bandanna, revealing a third, reptilian eye in the center of her forehead.]

[Sigh.]

I will never understand outsiders.

[Asura is apparently immediately intrigued.]

Well... I'm not normally so direct but if you like that sort of thing... That's a gorgeous eye. Please tell me, were you born with it?

I prefer it, actually. Direct communication is important in a strike. It can mean the difference between life and death.

[He refers to both her stance on communication and the idea of her eye. He clasps his hands together as if in prayer, a sign he's about to spout off some wisdom.]

Eyes are the window into the soul, but also outward. The symbol of perception, and perception is the mother of enlightenment. Although I suspect the cause of you gaining your eye was calamity, please consider it a sign your path is a wise one. [He gives a quick little half bow when she thanks him. It's basic etiquette for a monk...Not that he actually is one.

But once that's done, he takes his hands apart. Unlike his usual emotional talk, he's quite cold and serious when he answers her question.]

[Kaia's top eye blinks at his story and she raises one of her two eyebrows.]

Still...my enemy is a mortal and he can and will be undone...but how does one defeat a god of death?

When he trapped me, he had to root himself to one spot to keep me from escaping, but I got away anyway!

[He gives a smile, his scarves swaying in wind that isn't there almost like. Almost like wagging tails.]

I'm still recovering from what he did to me, but when my strength returns I'll have the power to grind his order into the dust. I'll crush all of his minions one by one and he won't be able to do a thing.
