Well, I am greatly excited for whatever we do, as long as it is not taking away from Road Rover duties. If I can still help my comrades, I am doki-okie.

[Still something of a shelter dog thing, particularly regarding his teammates. Chris smiles gently.]

It sounds like you, all of you, have good lives now, and meaningful positions. That's what counts, right?

[A slight - distracted - nod.]

Is true. But still, I wonder...

[He pauses again, clearing the words from his throat before looking up.]

So what is it that you are doing?

[Yeah, definitely some things he'd rather not talk about right now...]

[Chris senses the tender nerve, but readily accepts being steered away from it. Far be it from him to pressure anyone, sentient animal or otherwise, from something they'd rather not talk about during casual conversation.]

Me? Oh, I'm a biologist! Together with my brother and our crew we go out creature adventuring, plunging into the wilds of the world to learn all about creatures and their habits.

[lambs_jiffy]

[A curious look.]

You are nature man?

[One way of putting it...]

[A throaty chuckle, and he grins.]

Yeah, that's one way of putting it.

We like to really get in there, learn about animals and the way they've adapted to survive. Really get a feel for how to be the creature, y'know?

[He's starting to.]

So you are researcher as well? You explore wilderness to study animals, da?

[He smiles. Sounds fun.]

But what is meaning, 'be the creature'?

[beingthecreature]

Da, I mean, yes! [He laughed a little as he spoke.] That's what we've been doing our entire lives, almost. Furthering animal research.

Oh, that. [He snickers a little.] Something unique to our team, the creature power suits, created by the engineer of the group. [And he gestures to the odd vest he's wearing, with a paw pad-shaped button on the front.] It lets us transform into the creature in question.

[lambs_jiffy]

[Now that it's brought to his attention, Exile looks at the vest questioningly.]

You transform into animal? How is device doing this?

[Unable to resist, he carefully taps the largest button on the front.

Unfortunately, Exile does have trouble controlling his own strength at times...]

[He can feel the thud of that tapping- though it might be more apt to call it a jab -resonate through the suit.]

Whoa hey, watch out or it'll--!

[The pad is flashing a little with each touch, and on one final poke it zaps a few times and then spreads a green light over his body.]

[When the light fades, the suit seems to have decided to go into the nearest glitch, without the ability to have picked out any DNA from Exile's armor. This left Chris in a familiar, shaggy form, and after looking himself over he sighed, putting a hand over his eyes.]

--mess up.

[lambs_jiffy]

[Exile jumps when the suit flashes, but it's only after the transformation that he really starts freaking out.]

Comrade! What's happened?! Are you doki-okie? You are...

[So many words come to mind, but he's unable to find the exact one to use.]

...different.

[beingthecreature]

[He held up his hands, giving Exile what he hoped was a comforting smile.]

Yeah, don't worry, it's fine. This is just one of the transformations of the suit.

[He rolled his eyes and shook his head a little with the same motion, then waved his hand slightly.] It's a Tasmanian devil to be exact, a species of small-to-medium marsupials that live on Tasmania, an island off the coast of Australia. [A resigned sigh.]

It started out as a glitch with my suit- long story -and sometimes it goes back to it when it messes up. I just have to watch out for the T-devil instincts until I can get it fixed but otherwise, no harm done.

[He's still a little worried, but calms down a bit seeing that Chris isn't hurt. Once he's sure of that, curiosity gets the better of him. He walks around Chris, getting a good look at this new form.

More than just the appearance, though, Exile notices that Chris' scent is different too. Though his nose isn't as good as Hunter's, Exile picks up on how Chris didn't quite smell human any more. There was definitely more animal there now, and one that he'd never sniffed before.

And his tail starts wagging, because this...this was exciting].

[Exile isn't the only one picking up scents. Thanks to a T-devil's superior olfactory senses, Chris can smell him too, and his nose twitches a little as he inhales twice in short succession. Dog, slight touch of human, and a taste of an odor that brings to mind cars and other motor machinery. Neat.

He's careful not to move from the spot while he's under inspection, but he does turn his head to track Exile as he walks around. And Chris can't help it, but he's smiling fairly brightly himself. The energy coming from that tail wag is infectious.]

[Once he's gotten a good look, Exile stands in front of Chris again, thoroughly impressed.]

Your suit is incredible device to be doing such a thing...

[He would know. He's seen some pretty amazing machines.]

But...I am deeply sorry for breaking suit.

[Ears flattened and tail between the legs; the perfect picture of a regretful dog.]

[Okay wait, time to fix this. He steps to Exile and places a hand on his shoulder, tapping the paw pad with the other.]

Hey, don't worry about it! You should have seen the damage done to it by the tazzy that gave me this transformation in the first place.

[Then his smile softens, and his voice to match.] It's okay. This is more than fixable by my teammate. You did nothing permanent, whatsoever.

[And finally a brighter tone, as he laughs and folds his arms, shrugging, then grinning- and perfectly showing off the snagglefangs T-devil power gives him.] Besides, I love Tasmanian devils. I don't mind this at all.

[The reassurance perks Exile up a little - enough that he manages a smile and slight tail wag, at least.

And enough that he's able to ask more questions, apparently.]

What...what is it like, being different animals?

[Only being able to switch from dog to Cano-sapien, the idea of being something else was certainly an interesting one.]

Oh, it's incredible! [He laughs softly, and grins.] The sensory world of animals is so different from what humans- [And in deference to current company] -and even dogs experience. My brother and I have been everything from birds, to reptiles, even fish!

It's an experience like nothing else, I'll tell ya that.

I am believing you. It is sounding like quite good times. But how is suit able to changing to so many animal forms?

[beingthecreature]

Oh, well! Normally the suits have disks that carry the creature information on them. Whenever we want to transform then we put the disk in the suit, and activate them by taking on some of the animal's DNA, via touch.

Now, they've been altered a little in the place that my brother and I were sent by our muns so that we don't need the DNA, but otherwise it's pretty much the same concept.

[Exile processes this information, his tail once again wagging at such an exciting prospect.]

What other kinds of animals have you been turning into?

[beingthecreature]

Lots! [He giggles, then starts counting them off on his claws.] Gazelle, wolf, dolphin, golden orb weaver spider, peregrine falcon, thorny devil, boss kangaroo... I could go on and on.

[If he wasn't before, Exile is very impressed by now.] That is quite long list!

So when you are becoming spider, are you gaining extra legs too?

[beingthecreature]

Sort of, yeah! [Since the suit's glitching doesn't affect the creature pod in the glove, he activates the popup screen to show a few video scenes of spider suit in action.]

A lot of the suits give us extra locomotion choices, and spider was one of those. It was actually kinda easier, unsurprisingly, to walk on the extra legs that came with the suit than to only use our own two feet.

[Exile's ears perk up at the sudden holographic screen, and he follows the trail of light down to its source.]
