You know, the whole idea of me having a twin sister isn't a bad one. I think it'd have been nice to have someone else around since I wasn't able to play with the other kids. Well, I hope someone pops up, since you're on a sibling kick now or something, ma'am.

I never really considered what it'd be like to have a brother. Not a twin, at least. Bucky, yeah, I thought about him like that but not...

[Sighing, she gives him a nervous, sheepish look... which she really shouldn't do since he'd be her brother if something like this really did happen.]

Shouldn't this be easier if I'm - you're - if we're each other?

My mun is pretty excited at the idea, and it'd be nice, to have someone understand what it's like, being Captain America and all.

[He just chuckled at her nervousness.] I heard once that twins are just the same person in two different bodies, but I don't know. I think we can be our own people, right?

I dunno if I'll completely understand it. I'll be taking your place, which is different than being the one who made that place. And if you're back, then I'll just be an Agent, not Cap anymore.

[Which is a strange, unsettling thought since she's been Cap in one form or another for decades.]

I don't think we can be exactly the same person. Even if I was you and just - [She gestures at herself and grins.] - Y'know, I still wouldn't be you completely.

I wonder if we'd have one of those twin connections like my mundane keeps thinking about.

[Yeah, you had nobody to hang out with, Rogers. That's a niiice thing to say. Not that Bucky'll actually point that out.]

Like keeping one of you out of trouble isn't work enough.

[Steve wouldn't think about it that way. He knew Bucky was his best friend, but he still would never understand how it felt to be so weak and useless.]

Girls are usually more responsible than men.

[Not until Zola's table? Or never never?]

That doesn't necessarily mean much. And even if she's a little like you, the need to keep her out of trouble would've been even worse. Considering.

What is that suppose to mean? [Because Steve didn't consider himself a troublemaker in the least bit. He just didn't like bullies.]

She's a dame. Angry bullies don't exactly think of what's right and wrong to do to people.

Okay, you have a point, but I would've looked after her. I wouldn't have let anything happen to my sister if I had one.

I know you'd have tried.

[All Bucky can envision is having to choose which one of them he can rescue and which will get hurt worse than he or she can prevent.]

[Steve chuckled at that.] You're right, but we'd both be able to protect ourselves now.

[Okay. That. That makes Bucky relax a little, and nod.]

Damn right.

Might even be able to give our best friend a run for his money. [He said with a grin.]

I'll take losing ~~to you, not anyone else, though~~ so long as you stay safe. You yourself, either of you whatever. All right?
