There is a rather strong sentimental attachment to holidays. It can be distressing if they're not celebrated the same day.

Though late is better than never.

That's what I keep saying! Just because it's a bit later doesn't mean it won't be as amazing or whatever.

Plus with all the sales that happen after Christmas there is a better chance for nabbing some last-minute gifts for people!

Being with the family did seem the most important part. They seem to value that. So at least the sentiment is there.

Savings are always a bonus.
