And I don't see what you have against Me gathering thirteen wizards and a dwarf to go rob a halfling. Fair is fair, after all; why shouldn't we get some equality going on here?

Usually he draws first blood is considered to be in the wrong. The dragon attacked unprovoked. Had the situation been reversed, you would have been in the right.

And when you go back further? When a flood of dispossessed dwarves out of Khazad-dûm invade the dragon-lands and carve an entire mountain kingdom out of another's territory, bringing humans to thrive and multiply for a further eventual push north? 'First blood' can be a slippery concept to grasp, Warchief- and my kind have long memories.

Sadly, 'right' and 'wrong' tend to be pushed to the side in regard to the fate of nations. 'I have power, therefore I shall do whatever I please' seems to be the order of the day for most races.

Sadly, I concur. My people seek only to live in peace now, but old hatreds and misconceptions die hard. So long as blood is shed over the notion of 'home', the killing will never end on either side.

Hardly the only hatred that incurs bloodshed. 'All dragons are evil,' 'all humans are untrustworthy scum,' 'all orcs are subhuman animals'... Every race seems to prefer defining 'people' as not including another group. It's ever so much easier to hurt them, that way.
