Peace, maid. I spoke from the heart, in a moment of shock.

Bilbo chose to abandon us to our own quest and our fate, as so many others had. I heard him resolve so, only to see his staunch return. Not hours later he stands fast against my enemy, who had not wielded steel the night before. If my words to him after seemed confused, it was because he proved himself an unpredictable creature. If they seemed in anger, it was at his recklessness on behalf of one who had so derided him.

I was not concussed.

It seemed as though you were to my mundane and I.

[personal profile] ladyofrivendell 2012-12-16 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Hold no hostility towards me, Master Dwarf, for I now well of how sturdy your kind are. I know of no stronger a race and I have known many dwarves in my lifetime.

Even still, that does not make your people invulnerable.

[personal profile] ladyofrivendell 2012-12-16 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
I hear hostility in your tone. But my, if you aren't entitled to it, the way things are portrayed in this film. I have done no such harm to you, however. My husband helped you and I was friend to the dwarves of Moria when Eregion still stood and after.

Good, then the pale one did no permanent damage.

[There's a sad smile on her lips and she kneels down to raise his chin.]

You do your family great honor by attempting to avenge them and reclaim your lost home. Please, try not to be so reckless as you were in the film when next you see him. It would sadden me.

[personal profile] ladyofrivendell 2012-12-16 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
I would not ask you not to seek your vengeance. Only to do so when you do not risk so much. And not to spare just my own grief but that of your company as well.

[personal profile] ladyofrivendell 2012-12-16 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
[She scowls, a rare sight for the Lady of Rivendell who is typically kind to all and knew a great many dwarves she called 'friend' in her youth.]

You've a sharp tongue when I am trying to be kind and avoid causing insult, King Under the Mountain.

Despair? No, never. Rely on Mithrandir? Again, no. Did you think to ask for aid from your companions that were not holding to Mithrandir's staff?

[A pause.]

You've more strength than I, and I recognize that. I have suffered too and fled Middle Earth as a result. You fought for your own and I respect that. Do not mistake my words again.
oakenshield: made by oakenshield (What of it?!)

[ ...welp. At least it's not an elf this time. Although, this is rather peculiar even for his standards. ]

Shoo her off and be done with it. You'll save yourself the trouble.

[ "At least it's not another elf", he says in thought. ]

One of the many I believe.
oakenshield: (We must away)

Certainly not. However, I shall tell you now to keep a good eye on that "scribe" of yours.

Well, my mun always thought I'd run into a double sooner or later.

I just didn't think you'd be so short.

And he had the same face as me? Us. Whatever. Huh. Small world.

The only thing that would concuss you, Thorin son of Thrain, is knocking heads with yourself.
thegrey: (pic#5348208)

[personal profile] thegrey 2012-12-17 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, yes. Though I don't believe plotting with your other selves would be of any good. [It can only cause nothing but trouble. Thorin's one of the more respectable dwarves, but one is stubborn enough. Two would be a calamity.]

[personal profile] thegrey 2012-12-17 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Frowning slightly as he wonders who would win the argument between two Thorin's. Not sure if even Smaug could get between two Oakenshields in a brawl...Yeah, like Gandalf is going to stop two of them fighting. He likes his arms.]

The question I would ask is if you could get along with yourself.

[personal profile] thegrey 2012-12-17 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[It'd be like dividing by zero.]

You'd be surprised. Though this is the only place it can happen. Eventually you will all head out to your own respective places.

[personal profile] thegrey 2012-12-17 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It never will be. It's a rarity for people with scribes to find their way home.

[personal profile] favours_thebow 2012-12-16 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Thorin? Is someone giving you trouble?

[personal profile] favours_thebow 2012-12-17 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, your scribe. Troubling creatures, are they not? [He smiled.]

How goes the journey, Thorin?

[personal profile] favours_thebow 2012-12-18 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. Why would she seek to move you away from our journey? Does she not share the same dream as you or I?
dwarvling: (e l e v e n ☙ attentive)

[personal profile] dwarvling 2012-12-18 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
[Good, because as happy as Kili was that Thorin had accepted Bilbo, he was worried.]

Aye, but a bit of rest and a smoke wouldn't hurt.

Words spoken in anger are often the last forgotten.

[ sorry, she's not trying to be cryptic. but it is not in her to be overly giving at the moment. hobbits were sprightly, durable folk but their spirits? like the spirits of any on middle earth, they could take a beating. ]
cuor: (for my comfort)

[personal profile] cuor 2012-12-20 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed, it is impossible for a dwarf to become concussed- their heads are hard enough to break diamonds on.

[He's teasing.]
