The cruel irony in sending me from Storybrooke to another place apart from my world hasn't escaped me. Especially having only recently realized that I was, in fact, trapped in Storybrooke by the curse as opposed to simply living there, it seems like especially poor timing.

For now, I'll have to take comfort in the fact that Emma will be joining me, but a life of nothing more than constantly being pulled away from the people I love is not what I've always envisioned for myself.

I have no choice but to trust your judgement. On my own, I'll do what I can to adjust, but I'll warn you, I've gotten good at defying the odds, and I'm not going to take being separated from my family lying down.

Kinda would have been nice to have someone telling me that before I ended up in Storybrooke.

But I guess I have Henry to thank for that, really.

[That causes her otherwise serene smile to shift a bit, saddened.]

We have a great deal of lost time to make up for, and we will. I promise you that, Emma. We'll find a way.

Yeah, I'm sure we will. You always seem to find a way, regardless of the situation.

But like you said- it uh...runs in the family, right?

It does. Wherever we find ourselves, we'll always make our way back to each other.

Pretty good trait to have I suppose. I mean-

My own mun's sister is a mun for YOU, so it's not like I'm always away from you for very long. ...Well- ...another you.

[She grimaces, shaking her head a little.]

You know what I mean. This place is confusing.

It is confusing, but I'm beginning to accept that that's just the way it is around here. Besides, if anyone is used to things being confusing, it should be us, shouldn't it?

Yeah, no kidding. Guess we've been dealt a weirder hand before.

We made it through that just fine. We'll come through this, too, and we'll be stronger for it.

Well- all I can say is I hope you're right.

And that I hope some of your optimism would rub off on me.

[As infectious as her mother's determination is- her personality just does not take to extreme cheerfulness well. That and she can barely see over the wall she keeps putting up. ..Though Emma IS getting better about that.

Give it time, and I'm sure it will. After all that we've been through, don't you think it's time to bring down the wall just a little bit? You can take off some of that armor you're wearing all the time.
