see a movie about a hobbit... immediately fling self back at the elves...
More than an Age passes between my tale and the one you have just viewed in part, yet your mind turns to Beleriand, not to Erebor. Are you truly so attached to the Noldor that even the barest mention of Gondolin can rekindle your interest in the First Age? That is more than a little worrying, lady. Those times were kind to few, me and mine least of all.

[ Despite him utterly finding distaste with the Elves, there's a hint of curiosity in his gaze. ]
And what of my story could possibly rekindle such an ancient tale as that of yours?

This is why he looks to Maedhros the Tall with such wonder. ]
You know of these swords? [ His eyes are wide. ] Tell me what sort of fate befell upon these swords from long ago?
Are their masters long gone?

As for the swords themselves, they were greatly feared by orcs and goblins. The fear may started at the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, the Battle of Unnumbered Tears. I was there, though I saw neither of them used--I was far afield from where Turgon fought. It is said he hewed his way through Morgoth's armies to his brother's side. There they fought together, ere Fingon was lost.

Thus he listens eagerly to the elf's every word. ]
Such a grand adventures this blade knows, elf. And many more grand adventures shall be had until my fingers turn cold and stiff. I would hope that the Orcrist shall bring me far better luck than your brethren, but I'm not one to foolishly hold to hope so fleetingly.
Even if I do perish, let it be a glorious death with this sword by my side.

I wish you luck on your journey, Master Dwarf. I hope you recover your lost treasure without losing much along the way.
no subject
I have nothing more to lose other than the dignity of my ancestors.
[ He replies solemnly. ]

There is much more you could lose, Thorin Oakenshield.
[ he speaks from experience. ]

[ A deep scowl settles upon the Dwarven King's face. ]
You and your elven brethren cling to your trees and nothing else. None of you possess anything worth fighting for not even when a threat such as Smaug comes near your forest dens!
Therefore, try not lecture me!

Do not presume to talk to me about what I do and do not know, dwarf, when you confuse to craftsmen of the Noldor with tree-dwelling Sindar.
I know far more of what comes with reclaiming treasures than you, and I had a treasure far greater than what was held in your mountain taken from me by an enemy that would make your Smaug fear.

All of you are the same as the next, aren't you? Just as haughty as any elf, I say. I see no difference amongst you and others like you.
[ He would've continued in his tirade hadn't Maedhros mentioned this wondrous treasure within his mountain home. ]
...I do believe I know of what you speak, but this treasure now belongs to me.
let's give this a whirl... <s>tralalalally</s>
[ And then Fëanor trails off, clearly lost in thought, as he paces back and forth. It's not that what his eldest son has to say isn't worrying or curious - it's that it's not as interesting to Fëanor as the construction of the swords, and until he works that out, he's going to be quite distracted...
It seems Maedhros is nice to ramble to, though, since no one else seems to be around at the moment. ]
tralalalally indeed
when he speaks, his tone is somewhat sarcastic. ]
You could simply ask one of the smiths about it. [ he knows this would never happen but imagining the reactions to it is amusing. ]
no subject
However, he's not so absorbed that he misses that sarcasm, and so he shoots Maedhros a look. Except then he starts actually considering the suggestion seriously for a moment before shaking his head dismissively. ]
No. It would be more productive to actually have one of the blades to examine. Perhaps that dagger...
[ An unnamed dagger whose wielder is unknown to him is preferable than swords people he didn't like much wielded. ]
no subject
You may find some trouble in acquiring Sting, Father. It does have an owner, if not a wielder.
no subject
Sting? Is that it's name? [ And then resumes the pacing. ] I won't require it for long. Simply a closer look at the construction of the metal - maybe take a few shavings to test to determine the alloy. Orcs aren't hard to find these days, so it shouldn't be difficult to determine the range of sensitivity.
[ .... for science! ]

This disturbs him greatly. ]
